How to Stay Absolute Calm Naturally When Your Kid’s Out Driving at Night!

I’m a Mom of 2 now grown daughters. One is launched, married, and a mom herself, with another on the way. My youngest daughter is almost launched, with one year of college left to go.

Honestly, I’m surprised that I’ve made it this far and am still pretty sane. Although I insanely love my girls, I don’t think I gave my Mom half the headaches or worries that these two put me through.

Now, I’m sure we all have some sort of recollection of what kind of antics we think we were getting away with. When I was a teenager, there were no such things as cell phones. I’m sure my mom’s nerves were pretty jangled.

Fast forward to 2008. Now there’s AbsoluteCalm,  a stress relief benefit product for anyone who needs some sort of relief from the daily stress of trying to work either a part-time or full-time job, and trying to raise teenagers in these tumultuous times.

A natural herbal supplement, Absolute Calm™ has been scientifically formulated to quiet the anxious mind using the latest advances in the fields of psychology, nutrition and neuroscience. This product helps you to relax in as little as fifteen minutes and will continue working for up to eight hours.

Consult your doctor if you have any health concerns before using this product.

Now that should certainly help while you’re waiting up to hear the sound of your prodigy’s car pulling into the driveway late at night!

Wishful Thinking ~ Baby Boomers – Work From Home Is An Option

Today being Monday, it was awfully hard to come down from a fun weekend and go into the cubicle.  I’m constantly researching and trying new ways to make working at home an option for me.  Here’s a great article I came across that I’d like to share with any of my readers who are in the same predicament I’m in.

Baby Boomers – Work From Home Is An Option
By Chris Tutauha

To me the baby boomer way to live life is to make the most of the options we now have, especially the option to work from home. I do not have to remind you that we have always done that. Once we see an opportunity and it looks good we go for it. This is just another one of those things we can choose to do. And just like you I would rather do it the easy way than the hard way.

How easy is it to get up out bed, go to the toilet, put the kettle on boot up the computer and voila! You are at work? Too easy! Or what about this one. Hang out with the family, go home at 10.00 pm kiss your darling good night and then fire up the computer, go to work, and when you are ready; go to bed. The good thing is you can get up when you want the next day. Unless your darling has plans (and you forgot) then you have to suffer and complain you should have left your work for later. Or how about this one. You go to another part of the country or overseas, settle somewhere, fire up your computer (laptop this time) and … that’s right … go to work. This style of having a home based business opportunity is called: work from home.

What about doing the chores around the house, mowing lawns, gardening, weeding, fixing reticulation, hanging out the clothes, doing the washing, cooking, doing the dishes, playing with your grandchildren, entertaining your friends and visitors? Well you need to do these things as well and I have a special name for this way of living, because you it’s not good to work all the time, you need to have a break. This doing things around the house is called: work at home.

Now there is work from and there is work at home. Let me explain: To make this baby boomer lifestyle to work, we need to note that there is a difference between working from home and working at home.

Although both are productive, one is designed to give you your sense of self worth, keep you mentally challenged, reward you well for your efforts financially, provide the opportunity to learn new things and give you a sense of pride that you contribute to the community, just like it used to be when you left home to go to work.
The other is what you do naturally anyway because that’s the reason you went to work in the first place. This is what we used to normally do when we came home from work. This is what I call: A mans home is his castle and if he treats his wife like a queen he get to be the king.

Meanwhile their little princes and princesses are out of the nest building their lives and the good thing about that many of them. They are not waiting until they get to our age, they are doing it now. In fact amongst the so called geeks, nerds and young minds are the very core people who have turned this work from home concept into a very user friendly opportunity for us to live life the baby boomer way. Many of these young people are the product of what we have installed into their lives.

In closing: Fellow baby boomer, be proud of the fact that you can design for yourself a baby boomer lifestyle and enlist the help of the young nerdie geekie minds, just like your little darlings. With their help you can overcome the hurdles of todays technological wonders. The internet is filled with lots of baby boomer off-spring who know how to relate to us and certainly bridge the generation gap. Remember that old saying … You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Its true, you can not teach an old dog new tricks. Let me remind you of an old trick: You are only as old as you think you are. Come join the baby boomer boom. Work from home.

Chris Tutauha is a baby boomer who grabbed the concept of working from home because he wanted to design a baby boomer lifestyle and make himself easily accessible to his family, friends and visitors. Chris loves the idea of learning from the geeks, nerds and young minds. To see where he gets it click here: http://www.teknacool.com

Want the look your favorite movie characters have, but don’t know where to start?

When I was in my 20s I used to work downtown at a huge insurance company. My BFF and I would take our lunch “hour” and visit all 11 floors of the best known department store on Main Street.

We always dressed “to the 9s” for the office, and I would make the trek in super high heels. I was in Sex and the City clothes long before many of my readers were born!

One of my favorite movies was “The Great Gatsby.” It was filmed in Newport, Rhode Island, and every time I visit, I wonder what it would be like to have to dress for all those high society social functions!

Want the look your favorite movie characters have, but don’t know where to start? ISawitin.com can help. Check them out for your favorite Movie Fashions.

There may be a Hollywood Star on the Boulevard in your future!

Bloggers ~ Stop Burying Your EntreCard Banner At the Bottom of Your Blog!

I’ve been EntreCard dropping all afternoon, and my curiosity is piqued. I’ve discovered so many terrific blogs, and have opened folders so I can EC Drop in on my favorites, and advertise on their sites.

If you have an EntreCard banner on your site, and it’s way down at the bottom ~ my question to you is ~ WHY? Are you afraid someone is going to just “drop and run” without reading your posts?

Or even, WHY is your Entrecard on your About Me Page where I have to hunt for it? Honestly, that’s ridiculous.

I don’t drop & run. I usually read what’s going on before I drop my card on a new blog. Then I decide if I’m going to drop, and/or add it to my list of favorites in my folder.
My suggestion for everyone who has their card hidden way at the bottom of their sidebar is ~ put it ABOVE the fold! You’ll get more traffic, possibly some subscribers, and more folks willing to advertise on your site.

It’s the Baby Boomer in me, and we’re always game for a protest ~ so Join the Movement to only “Drop On Top.” Check out the new badge on Top of my EC banner. Join here.

Hat Tip to Posh Moma (where I found the blog for this tip!)

I’m certainly not going to waste my hard-earned EC points that I’ve earned dropping by placing an advertisement on your site where the card is buried at the bottom. Nope. No Way.

It’s your future. What are you waiting for? Get Cisco IT Certified~

As a Baby Boomer, I have had to play catch-up in the technology field. I grew up long before the age of many of the following as young people today know them: calculators, computers, cell phones, push button phones, remote TV controls, microwaves, and more!

Hard to believe? My oldest darling daughter once asked my husband, “Dad, did you and your brother every fight over the remote controle?” My naïve little one.

I learned much of the technological skills that so many take for granted today at my full-time job. Blogging, HTML and other skills I’ve picked up on my own, the hard way. I’ve done this in order to prepare for retirement, and a second career.

But there’s an easier way to pick up the skills you need to succeed in a new career, and that is through Cisco certification.

You can increase your chances for gainful employment, career growth, success and a high paying job by becoming IT Certified in fields such as Routing & Switching, Design, Security, Storage Networking, Voice and Wireless.

Many types of Certifications are available. Entry and Associate Level Certification can lead to professions such as Network Administrator, Network Engineer and Network Analyst. Professional Level Certifications may lead to careers including Senior Network Engineer, Project Manager and IT Manager.

It’s always a good idea to have a back up Plan B in place given the state of the economy today. The Internet is an evolving technological force. There are many options available to continue learning online.

I’m a huge advocate of online education. It’s your future. What are you waiting for?

Entre Find of the Week ~ Mama Flo’s Place

June 28, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

I luv participating in Shelley from The Mom With Brownies‘ Entre-Find of the Week! What a cool way to share the newest blogs you’ve EC dropped in on!

The Mom With Brownies is also one of my Moomette’s Best WAHM Blog ~ Site Award Winners!

My Entre Find this week is Mama Flo’s Place. See, Mama Flo is a bit like Mama Mentor here. She didn’t fall off the turnip truck recently, and like me, we’re both Baby Boomers. She’s a former cig smoker, like myself. I’ve mentioned before how great that nicotine gum is ~ been on it 5 years already!

Mama Flo has been married to the same guy for over 30 years. Me too. Like I keep saying, every day is an adventure!

In her profile, Mama Flo says “I have strong opinions that I love voicing but others hate hearing.” Well, now if we aren’t twins in some way ~ if you don’t think so, read my latest post at my Musings blog.

You can’t mess with we Baby Boomers!

Head on over to Mama Flo’s Place, and tell her Mama Mentor sent you!

Hot Flashing Again ~ So You Think Various Mom Forums Are A Good Thing?

Don’t be alarmed! I’ve felt that one of my banners The Mom Pack banner needed an “attitude adjustment” and therefore I did a little redecorating and replacement with this one such renegade banner!

It’s that time again, where I’m going off on a tangent.  Hot Flashing about whatever gets my dander up.  I’m providing this service to all the Moms out there and sharing my experiences in the e-commerce world.

Within the last 1-1/2 years since I’ve been “online,” I was advised to join various Mom forums.  There’s one in particular that’s highly touted as being helpful, however, it’s moderated.

By moderated, I mean that anytime you want to post a comment, suggestion, response, etc., your post has to go through the forum administrator.

So, over the last year or so, I’d been lurking, picking up bits & pieces of useless usefull useless information.  Many of the moms post trying to hawk promote hawk their products, contests, news, etc.   Most of the time the comments are veiled, and disguised as if to provide information.  If you are savvy and can read between the lines, you really see that they’re trying to sneak in a little self-promo.

The quality of the valuable information has taken a dive digressed taken a dive, and provides nothing but a middle-school  lunchroom sorority house Animal House atmosphere where the sisters travel in packs.  I’m so happy I blog.

I’ve voiced similar concerns here in the past.

Wicked Stepsisters

One of my online buddies has become so disgusted disillusioned disgusted that she’s since gone “No Mail” on this particular forum.

This is a photo of the Yahoo Group Homepage.  You can see how the number of posts have been steadily declining.

You see, I think they’re arrogant and they play favorites.  When I tried to make a simple post, no different than that of anyone else, I got a nasty polite nasty email from the forum moderator Julie saying that if I didn’t like their rules, perhaps the site is “not for me.”  Harumpf.  I’ll lurk, thank you very much.  So now I’m a Persona Non Grata, and bet ya none of my posts will go through, should I decide to try to post again. (Don’t have to be concerned about posting there anymore.)

I’ve found that the moms on mommy blogger forums, and even non-mommy blog forums are much nicer, and willing to share all kinds of information.  If you don’t blog and would like to know how to go about starting a blog, join the Mom Bloggers Club.  They’re a great bunch over there!

As my faithful followers know, I’m not Edith,  I don’t like being stiffled, and I speak up when I feel the need to.

Pay attention to what’s going on in the forums you join, and read what’s between the lines.

Summer Camping in your RV! Visit Your State Campgrounds!

June 26, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

Charming Son-in-Law is originally from Vermont, and my daughter and ‘Lil Moomette travel to visit his family up there frequently. His family is very big into camping.

Our family enjoys camping too, and when the kids were little, we always used to vacation up in Cape Cod, many times staying for a week or so. We’ve also done local mini “family reunions” camping trips with extended family at various Connecticut State Campgrounds.

Darling Daughter and her husband are expecting my new grandson in August. They’re looking to get out of the tent business and are scouting around for Motorhomes to give ‘Lil Moomette and her new brother more room to run around in. Oh, and also to add some creature comforts for themselves, such as a personal bathroom. I had an ex sister-in-law once say about camping in a tent, “if it’s not nicer than my own home, it’s not a vacation.”

With gas prices going up every day, don’t forfeit family vacation time together. With a RV, you can still vacation close to home in comfort! Check out your local state campgrounds!
