One of my favorite groups to get info on all things Blogging is Mom Bloggers Club, the latest Web 2.0 Social Networking site. I’ve been a member since the very beginning. There’s plenty of smart Moms and Baby Boomers who blog about Parenting, Recipes, Product Reviews, Fashion, Photography, Pets, Frugal Lifestyle, Contests & More!
There’s quite a bit of useful information that’s been posted to help Mommy Bloggers and others increase and gain Technorati Authority ranking on their blogs. One of the benefits is, the higher your ranking and authority, the more likely that PR advertisers find your blog beneficial to them.
Technorati Ranking relates to the number of sources that point to your blog relative to other blogs. The more sources referencing your blog, the higher the Technorati ranking. The Technorati Ranking for a blog is displaying in URL Search results, Blog search results, and is displayed in the account profile for all claimed blogs.
Make it easy for your readers, and grab a Technorati button or chicklet and place it where your readers can see it. You can then go back into your account and see which of your readers have Faved you. It looks like this ~ go ahead & click it!
Here’s a list of many of the wonderful blogs that can be found who belong to Mom Bloggers Club. Please visit my friends, and Favor them to Technorati if you’d like!
For More info, visit Mom Bloggers Club, and don’t forget to Friend Request me when you get there!
If you found this post helpful ~ Fave me to Technorati (Button on sidebar or at bottom of post) I’d appreciate your leaving me a Comment! I love Comments!

Choices to Consider When Boarding Your Pets While You’re on Vacation

Boarding Pets
Many of my readers know that I have a Black Lab Granddog who visits frequently. I’m always on Twitter and chronicle the competition between “The Cat” and “Muttley.”
When I was a child, I grew up in a family that always had cats; so naturally, I’m a cat person. However, the Hubster is a dog fella, and always had dogs. It makes for an interesting combination.
When we were newly married, childless and bought our first (and only) house, an 8-week old German Shepard crossbreed was added to the “family” within 3 days of our moving in. That dog developed Epilepsy, and we were fur-free for awhile. Later we had the companionship of a terrific Black Lab who was with us for 4 years before the kids came along, and lived to be 12.
At the time we were boaters, and were away every weekend, which necessitated the boarding of Fido at what I considered then, astronomical fees.
However, my Charming Son-in-Law is originally from Vermont, and the Granddog is conveniently dropped off at “Grandma & Grandpa’s” each time my daughter and her family goes to visit his family.
As a Baby Boomer, you may find that you’ve built up a lot of vacation time from work or you’ve retired, you may find yourself traveling more and more. For you, this is great! You finally have time to take those trips you’ve wanted to take. For your pooch, this presents a dilemma. Your dog may love being at home, even when you’re not, but if you’re gone often or take long trips he might get very lonely. Of course, you would bring him along if you could, but that’s not always feasible.
Perhaps you don’t have nearby family to deposit your companion for any length of time. What’s your next choice then? The answer may be to board him at a kennel where he can get fresh air and exercise, and be among people and other dogs. Just think, if he’s at a kennel you don’t have to worry that he’s chewing up the leg of your favorite chair or if the neighbor kid is remembering to feed him.
Choosing the right boarding facility for your precious pet means checking it out thoroughly and asking questions.
In Part 2 I’ll talk about what decisions are best in choosing a quality facility to make sure Fido has fun while you’re away.
So, in the meantime, what do you do with your pets when you are away for any length of time?

Fun in the Snow the New England Way ~ Throw a Winterfest
February 26, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Living in New England, we have no other choice other than to make the best of what Old Man Winter sends our way. This past weekend we attended a Winterfest and Ice Sculpture Carnival at Lyman Orchards, here in Connecticut.
It’s an annual event and focuses on family fun. Lyman Orchards sponsors such themed events all year long.
Set in the quiet countryside of Middlefield, Connecticut, the family run operation and store is known for their home-made bakery pies, apple cider and produce. There were several food booths offering samples of Connecticut made Maple Syrup, my favorite Kettle Corn, Muffins, Apple Cider donuts, apple butter, soups and chowders.
There was plenty of activities going on that day ~ The Connecticut Valley Siberian Husky Club had several of their beautiful dogs there for all the kids to see and enjoy.
The ice carving demonstrations were simply amazing! Such talent! Families gathered all around the ice carvers and were watching their skills with the electric saws.
The younger teenage set was all decked out in their outdoor clothing and showed off their snowboarding skills on the ramps that were set up. We’ve had some warmer weather, so some snow making machines were brought in for effect.
My granddaughter’s favorite was the real igloo, and all the children were so anxious to get their photos taken in it!
The next event will be taking place in the Spring. Lyman Orchards also features a golf-course. If you plan on being in Connecticut during that time of year, for more information Visit:

WAHM ~ Generate a Passive Source of Income by Becoming a Squidoo Lens Master
February 22, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Veranda Chit Chat, blog resources, business, career opportunities, e-commerce, sahm, twitter, wahm, wahm tips, work at home
As a Baby Boomer looking to supplement my finances, I’ve found another way to generate a passive source of income. If you’re a SAHM or Work At Home Mom you might want to consider becoming a Squidoo Lensmaster.
What’s nice is that you can link your lenses to your blogs, web pages or post on your Facebook profile.
The premise of Squidoo is:
Squidoo is a hand-built collection of nearly 900,000 pages built by people just like you.
Squidoo is about giving you a free, easy place to set up a page online. About anything you’re interested in.Squidoo is about finding people when you care what they know instead of who they know.
I’ve been building lenses for awhile now and trying to generate interesting ideas that I enjoy and hope that other people would be interested in. Right now I have several in draft that I work on when I get the opportunity, and will be publishing a new lens shortly.
Also, I’m always on the lookout how to build a better “Widget.” SquidU is a wonderful venue for meeting new people and sharing ideas.
Recently I came across this informative article I’d like to share that succinctly summarizes information about Squidoo that will help you get started.
The Top 10 Checklist For Building an Effective Squidoo Lens
By Josh Bradley
Squidoo is quickly becoming a great way to market a business online and earn income via affiliate programs. In case you don’t know, Squidoo is a free resource that allows anyone to build web pages (referred to as “lenses”) about anything and everything. From an Internet Marketing perspective, these lenses can be extremely search engine friendly and drive massive traffic to your website.
Here are 10 strategies to build a great Squidoo lens that will bring traffic and money your way.
1. Make sure you completely fill out your entire Squidoo profile. This includes adding an interesting bio about yourself and a photo that represents you. Doing this will let people on Squidoo know what you’re about and encourage them to read more of your lenses
2. The name you choose for your lens is very important. Your title needs to be unique and catchy rather than bland and generic. The title also needs to point out exactly what the page is about and should include search terms that people would use when seeking out the info you are providing.
For example, the title “Why Dalmatians Are The Coolest Dogs Ever!” beats the pants off “About Dalmatian Dogs”.
3. Write a quality introduction that is appealing and informative to the reader. Your intro should also contain keyword / search terms in order for the search engines to recognize you. Remember that the first line of your intro is often what shows up in the search engines so make sure that it displays your purpose of the lens and targeted keywords.
4. Write killer content that people will enjoy. If you lens lacks content, doesn’t entertain or doesn’t inform people than nobody is going to want to read it. Pick subjects that you know something about and share your experiences. If people see you are excited that will get them fired up too. As always, don’t forget to include your keywords and search terms throughout the copy but make sure you don’t go overboard with this (ie. keyword spamming).
5. Include targeted links to related content. Remember that search engines notice not only who is linking to you, but also who you are linking to. Make sure that when you do link to related websites you use targeted words and phrases as your links. For example, if you are writing about Mini Coopers your outgoing links should say something like, “For more info, check out this website on Mini Coopers” instead of just “Click here“. You can also add Amazon and other modules that can help with this.
6. Don’t forget the graphics. Graphics will help break up your content and encourage people to continue reading.
7. Make sure that you tag your lens with 10 to 30 phrases and keywords that people might search for when looking for your topic.
8. Provide a variety of content. Large blocks of text, ads, graphics, etc can easily lose your reader’s attention. Mix it up and spread your lens out.
9. Encourage people to come back to your lens by providing a guestbook and poll. You also want to update or change your content every once in awhile which will help you with the search engines.
10. Make sure you proofread before you publish. Grammar and spelling do matter so utilize your spellchecker and read through your content a few times before you go live. It’s also a good idea to have others read your stuff over to catch anything you might have missed.
So now all that’s left for you to do is take action and start Squidooing! By putting all these strategies to use it won’t take long until you are enjoying targeted traffic to your website compliments of your new Squidoo lenses.

General Mills Big G Kid Cereals
February 20, 2009 by Moomettesgram
Filed under Reviews & Buzz, cooking, food, health, toddlers

As any parent knows, you have to hit the ground running every morning to keep everything in the household running smoothly.
From the time my children were babies, I worked part time for awhile, and then started back full time when my youngest was two. There were lunches to pack; kids to get dressed; backpacks had to be in order and delivery to daycare or putting the kids on the school bus before I headed off to work.
However, the most important part of the day was ensuring that my girls had a good healthy breakfast before they left the house. Having a healthy breakfast gives one fuel to get through the morning.
Cereal is considered a part of a balanced breakfast. Cereal is one of the most nutritious breakfast options a kid can eat. Most cereals have about 100 – 130 calories per serving and provide at least 10 key nutrients. And, ready-to-eat cereal is the number one source of whole grain in American diets. You can supplement that bowl of cereal with a glass of orange juice or coffee and a slice of wheat toast for a quick and healthy breakfast before work or school.
Are you aware of the recommended amount of calcium and vitamin D your child should get each day? Better yet, did you know the American Academy of Pediatrics recently doubled the vitamin D recommendation for children? Approximately 75% of kids today don’t get the recommended levels of calcium and vitamin D — two key nutrients for bone growth.
Not to worry though – as a parent, you can easily help your child get more of these two nutrients by looking for calcium and vitamin D fortified cereals, milk and juice. All General Mills Big G kid cereals (including Kix, Lucky Charms, Trix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and more) offer a good source of BOTH calcium and vitamin D in each serving.

Additionally, a recent report in a leading consumer magazine ranked kid cereals by nutritional content, and all nine General Mills Big G kid cereals included in the report were ranked in the top half. All Big G kid cereals have at least eight grams of whole grain per serving (at least 48 grams are recommended daily), and all have 12 grams or less of sugar per serving.
My youngest daughter is now 22 and will be graduating college this May. She still starts her day with one of her all-time favorite cereals ~ Cinnamon Toast Crunch ~ and even packs it in snack bags to take to class!

What will your child or grandchild’s favorite cereal be when they’re 22?
