The Connecticut River has always had an important part in our history. The river is navigable from Saybrook Point, at the mouth of the River, north up until Hartford. During colonial times, ships would anchor and often their provisions would be loaded into cove warehouses along the river.

I was recently offered the opportunity to review the Ice Cream Parlor Set from Melissa and Doug’s Play Food line.

What we like about this enchanting set is that pretend play encourages ‘Lil Moomette to use her imagination as well as aid in identify her colors, while encourages sharing.

I’ve always used Off Insect Repellent, but it has Deet in it. This year my daughter had a brand called Natrapel 8-hour Deet Free Insect Repellent. The Active Ingredient is Picaridin (20%).

We used it on the kids, and everybody else, including me put it on. It doesn’t work.
