Change Wordpress Themes With The Seasons Like You Would Change Your Hairstyle!

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

We all change our wardrobes according to the seasons, right? At least I do. In New England, we have 4 seasons, so that means I’m constantly switching my closets around.

Most women I know also like to change their hairstyles according to the seasons. In summer, I tend to go a little lighter. My spirits are usually more vibrant in the summer.

If you are a blogger, have you ever considered changing your template theme according to the seasons? I’m always on the lookout for cool wordpress themes for my blogs. My Moomettesgram’s Musings blog is a Wordpress blog, while my Moomette’s Mama Mentor blog isn’t. I’m considering switching it over, as I really love the flexibility that Wordpress has to offer.

I’ve been looking through all the neat free offerings at TopWPThemes.  Their choices are extensive ~ every color scheme and category imaginable!  There are all varieties of gardening, home-based business, family, technical and internet commerce themes. You can pick between 2-column and 3-column themes.  I’m certain I’ll come up with several that would be hard to choose.  The site offers Internet tools, resources, installation directions and support, as well as information on self-hosting.

Maybe I should hold a contest and have everyone help me decide?

How to Grow and Promote Your Business - Use VistaPrint For All Your Printing Needs

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

I recently did a post about the sluggish economy and how it might affect businesses. I’m a Bronze eBay Power Seller, as well as an affiliate independent consultant for several companies, and recently formed a Virtual Assistant Services ebiz.

Whenever I package an item to ship to my eBay customers, I cross-promote my Shoppes site and the companies that I rep for and include my business cards.  In order to qualify to be a Bronze Power Seller, I have to sell a minimum of 100 items per month. That’s quite a few business cards that I hand out ~ and that’s just to my eBay customers alone!

Though various eBay forums and business forums I belong to, I found out about Vista Print. Vista Print is a once-stop source for all your promotional business needs. I get many of my company business cards for FREE! There’s a wide selection of nicely designed templates that you can customize to personalize your cards and make them ‘your own.’ There’s also the opportunity to upload your own logos to design your business cards. Vista Print has a category design for everything – boutiques, mineral makeup, spa, beauty, gardening services, house cleaning services – you name it, they have it!

Additionally, VistaPrint offers a wide array of very affordable printing services including:, checks, rubber stamps, announcements, and car magnets! They even offer window decals. You can customize all of their products to your liking!

Since many are free, I order often, and leave my card in  the establishments I patronize: local hairdresser; restaurants; banks; and also supply the whole family with cards to pass out to anyone they think might be interested in my businesses! Grow your business with Vista Print!

DD had ‘lil Moomette’s pictures taken today in her Easter Bonnet and dress! It’s been pouring cats & dogs here in Connecticut for 2 days now. I know the rain is needed to bring those May flowers, but my Baby Boomer bones don’t need Doppler Radar to tell me what the weather’s going to be! In the meantime, start planning ahead for that nice Spring weather that’s on its way and ‘chalk’ this great recipe craft project up as a keeper!

Need something easy and fun to do with your munchkins? Look no further than these easy crafts.

CRAFT: Sidewalk ChalkWhat You Need:
- 1 Cup Plaster of Paris
- 1 Cup Water
- Powdered Tempera Paint
- Toilet paper Rolls

How To Make It
1. Mix the Plaster of Paris with the water. Add the powdered tempera paint in the color of your choice. You can also divide the plaster mixture into several containers and color each one with a different color paint.

2. Let it sit for a few minutes. Stand up the toilet paper rolls and pour your plaster into them. These will be your molds for the chalk. Set them aside and let the mixture dry for at least 24 hrs. Once the mixture is dry, remove the cardboard roll. If the chalk still seems moist, let it dry for another 24 hrs.

3. Use like any sidewalk chalk.
