Olive Kids ~ Personalized Clocks ~ A Review

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

As a Baby Boomer Gram, I always seem to have an opinion on everything. One of the things I enjoy most is grabbing a cup of coffee on the way to and from my office commute. It never fails to amaze me how many clerks at the coffee shop can’t seem to make change without the help of the computer cash register.

Likewise, many young children today are so digitally connected, that something as elementary as telling time by looking at a clock with hands ~ the old fashion way ~ simply stumps them.

I’m delighted to have the opportunity to review a quality product from Olive Kids.

‘Lil Moomette, my 2 year old granddaughter, loves to be held up by her Grandpa to our pendulum clock in the living room, and hear it go “tic toc.”

I received a beautiful Blossoms And Butterflies Personalized Clock with her name on it. The clock face is a light pink with a pretty pink flower arrangement in a purple pot. The personalized name is centered around the base of the pot. Butterflies replace numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9. The clock measures 12 in. across, and uses one AA battery (not included). There’s even coordinating bedding available to match!

Something as simple as a clock with moving hands can truly help even a toddler get a head-start on number recognition, sequencing, identification and counting skills, prior to Pre-School.

If you’re a mom who home schools your children or a Grandparent, Aunt or family friend looking for a unique gift ~ Olive Kids has it all.

Olive Kids is a delightful online shopping experience offering just about anything for kids that you can imagine ~ kids bedding; infant bedding; personalized clocks; rugs; wall art; plush & floor pillows; growth charts & more!

Best of all, Olive Kids has received many Mom-Tested and Mom-Site Awards.

The Blossoms and Butterflies Personalized Clock is definitely a winner. Many other styles for both Girls and Boys are available.  Visit at http://olivekids.com

Hockey Moms ~ Are You Frozen ~ Stay Warm with a Cabin Cuddler ~

Warm Up In The Office Today With A Cabin Cuddler!

Now that schools are back in session, I’m a little wistful.  Ever since my daughters were younger, I’ve always been a mom who attended sporting events.  My girls did soccer, travel soccer, indoor soccer, basketball, softball, lacrosse and cross country over the years.  They were active from grade school, all the way through becoming letter-winners in high school and college.

As a New England native, I can’t begin to tell you how many hours I’ve spent on athletic fields in all kinds of weather ~ rain, snow, freezing cold and days that sometimes were over 100 degrees.  New England weather can be so unpredictable.

Awhile back I posted a product review on this terrific new product called the “Cabin Cuddler.”  It’s so versitile, it can be used when traveling by air, train, car & more!

The Cabin Cuddler is also great if you’re a cubicle dweller, like I am.  But I really wish that this had been around when I was a soccer/basketball/softball/cross-country/lacrosse mom!  While I don’t have sons, I do have a new grandson, so maybe I’ll be a Hockey Grand-mom some day….maybe.

The kind folks at Cabbin Cuddler sent me this terrific travel blanket so I can have one of my very own!  It even has a pocket for my feet!

Start your Holiday Shopping early ~ maybe some mom, dad, grandma or grandpa would like a Cabbin Cuddler to bring to the games with them ~ football season is in full swing!

Thanks so much~  See for yourself, try the Cabin Cuddler today!

Everything Including the Kitchen Sink For Your Theater Style Seating Rec Room!

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

I recently did a post on how I attended a backyard barbecue at the home of my niece who recently got married last weekend.  The young couple is fresh out of college within the last few years, and has a rec room (is that what they’re still called?) that’s to die for.

There’s theater style seating, a bathroom, surround sound, plasma TV, and a wet bar!

Even after 34 years of marriage, this Baby Boomer is still not able to keep up with the Joneses!

If you’re in the market for bar sinks for a kitchen makeover or home improvement project ~ such as updating your rec room or great room, check out the Kitchen Sink Outlet.  You’ll find brands from Kohler, American Standard and more!

The Joneses will then have to keep up with you!

Single ~ Widowed ~ Retired ~ Search the Contractor Directory Review Before Starting Any Home Improvements

Monday, July 28th, 2008

This weekend was so busy! As many of you were aware, I attended my nieces wedding, which turned out to be a 3-day party! The weather was magnificent, and the Bride and Groom were beaming!

It was a great time to get together with extended family and friends. We had the opportunity to meet my Sister-In-Law’s “new sweetie.” My brother-in-law passed away several years ago, and we’re delighted to meet the new man in her life and see her so happy once again. This is a long-distance relationship, up and down the East Coast. New Beau is retired, but considers himself a “Handyman Contractor.” Besides being a nice guy and winning over the in-laws, it’s even better that he can make himself useful when he comes up to visit!

There’s always plenty of work needed around This Old House of mine. I’m sure many of my bloggy friends, and especially those who are single moms or mid life Baby Boomer retirees, can always use someone to do some chores and repairs that are beyond our expertise.

If you’re looking to fix up the old homestead and looking for Houston Contractors, or trying to find quality contractors in the following areas: remodeling, heating and air conditioning, roofing, electrical, general, plumbing, painting, flooring, among others ~ check out Clicksmart Certified Contractors for an expert contractor in your state!

I Transformed My Home ~ Hot Time in the Summer Time!

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

As many of my readers are aware, I live in New England and we have 4 seasons here. The old saying goes,

“If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute ~ it’ll change.”

So true.

I have gone to work some mornings with the heat on in my car, and come home from work at night with the air conditioning on!

I’ve been married over 34 years. DH is an “air conditioning” type of guy. Me ~ I’d rather have the windows open, as I love the fresh air. I don’t care how humid it gets ~ I love hot, humid air and despise the cold. No air conditioning for me (unless I’m Hot Flashing, of course!)

Recently I jumped at the chance to participate in the Renuzit® TriScents™ “Transform Your Home With Tanya Memme” promotion and I was sent a free sample of Renuzit Tri Scents to use. Renuzit® TriScents™ are the newest line of electric scented oil air fresheners. Each unit comes with 3 scents that compliment each other, all in one convenient product. They are available in two fragrances, Seaside Breezes™ and Morning Meadow. Each contains three scented oils that work continuously all day long to freshen your home.

My office is downstairs. I’m using the Renuzit® TriScents in my living room. Since we have the air conditioning on most of the day, by using the freshener in my living room, the fragrance takes away the closed-in smell in the house. You have the ability to control the amount of scent being dispursed throughout the room. I have it on the least possible scent, as I like just a “suggestion” of fragrance, and prefer to not be overwhelmed.

If you’d like to try out these new scents yourself, visit http://www.triscents.com and print a coupon for the Renuzit TriScents Starter Kit.
