Connecticut Seashore Madison Ice House

Connecticut Seashore

This Ice House is in Madison, Connecticut – it’s a stand-alone building, and has the cutest little half-door. Unfortunately I didn’t get the whole door. There’s a loading dock & porch to the ice house. I haven’t seen another building like it in my travels! We’d stop here to get ice when we’re camping down at Hammonasset State Park.

An ice house? I’ve honestly never heard of such a thing, though I’m sure they’re around here, too. :) I’m not that far from New England.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an ice house either. It looks like a ‘cool’ place though. Sorry, I had to fit in a dorky joke!!

hee. That’s cool. I love all those old fashioned buildings and things with rich histories. THAT is why some people still call a refrigerator an “ice box”. lol
