Guide to Using Periscope to Connect and Grow Your Small Business or Website

Share

Do you “Scope?” If you’re online often today, people may ask you this question. If you’re like most people, you have no clue what they were talking about. Scoping is a relatively new venue that enables you to grow and connect with your peers, customers and viewers.

What is Periscope?

The Periscope app is for live streaming and was developed by Twitter in 2015. Periscope’s platform enables you to share events in real-time wherever you are and allows anyone who stumbles upon your broadcast to view it. It’s pretty simple to use and is totally free. You just download the app from the iTunes App store or Google Play store, signup for an account and then sign in.

From a viewer’s perspective, the app sends a notification when one of your followers or someone you’ve followed is broadcasting live. Just tune in and watch. During the live streaming, you can “like” a video. On Periscope you can also leave a comment on videos or leave feedback for an interactive experience.

The best thing about Periscope is it’s simple to use. If you’re doing the recording just turn the camera on whenever you want to broadcast then turn it off whenever you’re done. How easy is that? All that’s needed to get started is a smartphone and the live-streaming Periscope app. Simply press record and you’ll be broadcasing live.

Once done with the broadcast you can either save the video to your phone and choose to upload it later to your website or any social media account such as Facebook or Twitter or leave it on Periscope for 24 hours in the event any of your viewers may have missed the live version. Leaving it on Periscope for your viewers gives them time to leave feedback.

The Periscope app makes live broadcasting and video recording easy enough for just about anybody. You save time and less hassle of traditional video recording. You’re not tied down to your computer or any video recording equipment. You can spontaneously send a scope from almost anywhere – while on vacation or sharing an event, meeting or breaking news story.

Blogging and Small Business Tips

Periscope is a terrific tool for any blogger or small business owner. It’s an awesome way to build a sense of intimacy and personalize communication between your viewers and your brand. Periscope is making video more interactive for mobile than ever before. Just your imagination will limit how you use it. Remember to follow Periscope’s terms and conditions.
