Historic Connecticut Barns

Historic Charm

Connecticut has plenty of historic charm and barns. I really enjoy the old barns from the Colonial era, and often wonder what it would be like to have one in my back yard. I envision a home-office, or some kind of retreat.

Connecticut Barns

Many of the old barns are being taken down and replaced by new subdivisions.  Some of the locals protest, and rightly so.  I like to snap a picture whenever I see one, if I can persuade The Hubster to stop.

This is one I swung by and took a quick shot of on the way home one day after work.

That’s awesome! Reminds me of one we had near here growing up. I used to look at it every time we drove by and imagine what it looked like new. I loved seeing how the ivy grew up one side!

    Happy WW! :)

We have a lot of barns like that here in PA, too. They do have a lot of charm, but I always wonder how structurally sound they are.

I love old barns, too! Especially the old barns that have Mail Pouch Tobacco advertised on them that dot the Midwest! I collect pics of these! Thanks so much! Stop by! http://psychicmamaindigochild.blogspot.com/2009/08/wordless-wednesday-fear.html

I remember when I was younger, my dad’s best friend got married for the second time and his home had an old barn on it that they refurbished and decorated to hold the reception in (as you know, I grew up in CT)… It was beautiful and we had so much fun. The wedding was outside and the weather was perfect, we even went for horseback rides. It was in Litchfield, so you know how beautiful it is out there… thanks for bringing back that memory ~~ I don’t have too many wonderful childhood memories, but that is one… :-)

Are there any better photos than those of old barns? We have alot of them in Arkansas. I could spend the whole weekend, driving and photographing them.
