It’s really been an enjoyable summer watching the grand-kids interact with each other.

Slugger just celebrated his first birthday and is really trying to keep up with his older sister, ‘Lil Moomette.

My husband and I got the kids a playhouse as a joint birthday gift.  We liked to watch how our own kids developed while using their little imaginations during unstructured playtime.

Melissa & Doug LogoI was recently offered the opportunity to review the Ice Cream Parlor Set from Melissa & Doug’s Play Food line.

What we like about this enchanting set is that pretend play encourages ‘Lil Moomette to use her imagination as well as aid in identifying her colors, while encourages sharing.    The set includes:

  • 2 ice cream cones
  • 4 colorful ice cream scoops in different flavors/colors (strawberry/pink; mint/green; chocolate/brown and vanilla/white
  • 2 scoopers
  • It comes nicely packaged in a fun freezer case.

This toy certainly brings back memories for me too, because one of my first jobs in high school was scooping ice cream in the summer!

Melissa & Doug toys are an excellent value for their price, realistically designed and are a wonderful addition to any home school or pre-school curriculum.

    Just checked out their site. I always loved their products, but how no clue how many different items they sell. I didn’t know that they sold such realistic looking animals. My son has a fire truck themed room and I always wanted to find him a large realistic stuffed Dalmatian to go in it and they have one! Super cool

    I found this safety statement. I would buy from them based on this alone:

The key to assuring the safety of our products is not simply insisting our factories follow our instructions, but to go one step further and AUDIT, INSPECT, AND TEST, not only once, but at various phases of the production process.     Left my comment on the photo of the old barns. I just love old barns and photographing them. (8/18) We have traveled to places, seen barns and stopped for pictures. Those are the true landmarks, to me.

    A fact about Melissa and Doug is that Melissa & Doug is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of educational toys and children’s products.
    This is such a cute set. I’d love to win this for my daughter and sons. They love to pretend, play resturant waitresses and waiters and take our orders for lunch and dinner. This would really be fun for them.

    My daughter would love this! I love that it teaches cooperative play, role playing and imagination, and can also help her develop social skills and practice speaking, too!     In 1991 their first wooden toy is introduced, the Fuzzy Farm puzzle. Kids across the country told them they never knew pigs were fuzzy.

    I subscribed. I think this quote from their site sums up why I appreciated the company’s customer-driven philosophy:

    It means they take customer suggestions and integrate them into their product development, which is commendable.

    Melissa & Doug started 20 years ago (CONGRATS!!) in the basement of the home Doug grew up in. How cool is that?

    My 3 year old is obsessed with ice cream. Real, fake, doesn’t matter. This set would make her day and her birthday is coming up next month. Great timing!
