Family-Friendly Product Reviews

As Moomettesgram, I’m a Baby Boomer and thrifty Gram from New England ~ I’ve been ‘Around The Block‘ awhile and am familiar with many products, both household and child related. I’ve seen what were the “hottest trendy household and baby products” when my daughters were little in the ’80s, and I know what the “hottest trendy household and baby products” are now that I have my own grandchildren.

My Baby Boomer status qualifies me to have an opinion on just about everything ~ which I’m more than willing to share!

Product Reviews The Internet is quickly becoming the medium of choice for marketers and statistically proven that Mom Bloggers are increasingly influential in getting the word out to decision makers ~ Moms and Grandmoms ~  about the newest and hottest products on the market.

If you are a PR Representative, indie designer or crafter, feel you have a Family-Friendly, product that will be of interest to Moms or Babies and Toddlers (girls and boys) or are a PR rep for a company, please contact me below and I will be happy to discuss my terms.  I am more than willing to give an honest review of your product.

As an experienced Product Reviewer, I am the Administrator of the Bloggers Select Group on the Product Review Place, which matches carefully screened product reviewers and PR reps.

Please see my Media Kit for more information.

Examples of my previous work can be found HERE.

Reviewers: Moomettesgram has been married for 36 years and will review anything having to do with children, toys, household, beauty, cosmetic  or personal care products. ‘

Lil Moomette is now wearing a size 5T. She’s a real girlie-girl, enjoys being read to, creative play and trying to be an Alpha female.

Slugger turns 2 in August ’09 and is currently wearing a size 2T or 24 mos.  He is busy discovering the world around him.

As I’m a big supporter of indie and the work at home mom ~ whether you sell on Etsy or have a boutique store, here’s a great way to gain exposure and get the word out for your WAHM unique hand-crafted items and online website.

Eco-Friendly, non-toxic items are also encouraged!

Giveaways and Contests In addition to the review, you are encouraged  to give the option of offering a like item for a Giveaway Contest. I am able to conduct the Giveaway on my Blog, along with all details of the giveaway.

I’m also able to twitter fast and cross-promote Giveaways and Contests on my Great Finds and Giveaways blog.

Website/Blog Reviews I also offer reviews of websites and blogs.

Please see my Advertising Tab for Advertising options.

If you are planning on contacting me to post a Press Release or list your Giveaway, please read this information FIRST.

Blogging Tips: Time Management Coaching Session Giveaway

Professional Organizing

Increase Productivity

As a WAHM blogger, I’m finding that working from home has many advantages and also a sort of familiarity that can become a downright pitfall in some instances. I also still work full-time (although I’m currently looking for FT online work) and have discovered that it’s easy and sometimes quickly discovered that away from an office your productivity isn’t as high as you thought it would be.

Working from a home office can easily become a productivity killer when a business owner doesn’t stay on top of things. However, this can be changed with a few simple steps to get your business organized making productivity easier.

I recently had the opportunity to have a 35-40 minute coaching session with Simple Organized Sanity (S.O.S.) I was sent a questionnaire to fill out prior to the coaching session via the phone, and then was sent a full report with all the tips and tricks that I might need, a $30 value.

Christie Love is a professional organizer, and the brains behind Simple Organized Sanity.  She founded her company in January, 2009 on the premise that:

I’ve always had a knack and a love for planning and organizing spaces and rooms as well as scheduling and managing time.

Their mission is to teach moms how to save time, money, and energy by helping them find real life solutions that are personalized for their families.

During our telephone conference we discussed my needs relating to organizing my blogging endeavors.  Besides offering work-at-home, blogging and social media advice, I also am a Product Reviewer.  As such, I’m under constant deadlines, and must keep track of whether the products have been received; scheduling posts; offering Giveaways, and seeing that the companies fulfill the giveaways to the winner.

Christie offered the following suggestions to me:

1.      Create a Master Blog Notebook by getting a three ring notebook and divide it into monthly sections.  Download their Blog Topic Tracker where I’ll be able to print one page off for each month to keep track of the upcoming blogs that I want to plan for and prepare.  Christie suggested printing one sheet of each month for each of my blogs, and use a different color of paper for each blog that I write.

2) A filing system will be your best friend. Set up a tickler file in my home office.   Simply Organized Sanity provided a helpful link to a video Vlog post to help you get an idea for setting up the tickler file.

Use the tickler to keep track of contacts, emails, contests and administrative material.

Have 31 days, 12 months and perhaps even a year or two in the future inside the tickler system in order to allow me the most flexibility in planning.

Consider having color coded research files for each month in order that I know what I want to work on in the future for my different blogs.  I also am the author of the recently revamped Frugal New England Kitchen, where I offer Helpful Hints from a Yankee Grandmom.

3) Set up office hours for when I’l be blogging, working on social networking, contacting people, commenting on blogs, etc., and to build those routines into my weekly schedule.

4) Use a time with my office hours to help me be accountable to the time I have planned. (If I’m only going to comment on blogs, or visit social media sites and forums for one hour a week, set my timer for 45 minutes in order to give me a cue to find a stopping point.)

Simply Organized Sanity also offers custom designed planners to suit your family or business needs.

Low productivity in a home office arises mainly from disorganization.  We aren’t sure what we want to work on or what is most important sometimes, so it takes a little while to get that together. If you are organized from the beginning and keep your priorities current, you won’t spend your time deciding what to do next – you’ll already know. Good bye time wasters, hello productivity!

Did You Make That? Spring Fling Linky Luv for Mompreneurs

Spring Fling Shopping

Link to Your Mom Biz

Spring has arrived, and there are many Spring Flings going on around the blogosphere! Start your holiday shopping here!

As a Mompreneur, I understand the value of paying it forward.  I was a former eBay store owner where I sold boutique childrens clothing, and now sell vintage sewing patterns on Bonanzle, and welcome any free advertising that comes my way.

Looking To Be a Success Selling Online? Start By Selling Yourself!

Sure, everyone wants to sell their products online and make some decent money; but those who ultimately fail at it are usually the ones who don’t take the time to sell themselves right along with those products.

Why Do You Need to Sell Yourself?

It’s a hard idea to grasp, isn’t it? Actually it’s not when you think about it this way:

People tend to buy from those they have some level of trust with.

What Does it Mean to Sell Yourself?

Selling yourself is done through building relationships with those you intend to sell to. It’s important to create a bond with them to encourage a level of trust with you, so you can make the sale to them in the end.

To find your target market, you need to use outlets like the social media websites and message board forums that relate to your business site’s topic.

It’s also important to note that the relationship you build with your target market will need to be kept up; even after the sale. Your customers need to continue to have trust with you in order to keep coming back when they want to buy. This is easily done through your customer service skills and by providing them with excellent products.

Once you’ve introduced yourself to your targeted audience, you can begin getting to know them while they get to know you. The relationship you build through these outlets can be immeasurable when it comes to your business.

Whether you sell on Etsy, eBay, Bonanzle, your own website – if you’re a crafter, jewelry maker, butcher, baker or candlestick maker – I’d like to pay-it-forward and invite you and other WAHMs to leave your link to your mom-owned business on the Linky.

Please link ONLY to your mom-owned business. This is not a giveaway linky. You can list your Giveaways on the Giveaway Linky HERE.

Put Your Retweets in Overdrive: Su.Pr URL Shortening Services By Stumble Upon

Pack a Punch in your Retweets

WAHM Tweeting

Social Networking

I’d like to share my recommended URL Shortener for Twitter.  You may or may not have heard about it.

Twitter is a micro-blogging forum. You can talk to anyone who wants to listen. It’s a quicker way to get people interested in new product offerings, contests, prize giveaways, blog posts and more.

If you’re a work-at-home mom, this is important in order to get the word out on your brand!

Because Twitter limits you to only 140 characters per tweet, posting a link to your website can be troublesome. There are several services, such as bitly.com  or tinyurl.com that let you type in the URL of any site and will then shorten it into a clickable URL that uses fewer characters.

StumbleUpon Toolbar

Image via Wikipedia

I prefer the new service that Stumble Upon has developed.

It’s called Su.pr

I also recommended that you install the bookmarklet on your toolbar.

Benefits:

* When links are shortened by su.pr, it also adds a StumbleUpon toolbar to the tweet, thereby increasing your chances that your post will get Stumbled (more traffic!)

example:  Click through my RT and see what happens:

New YANKEES MLB Baseball Infant Baby Lovey Blanket Blue http://su.pr/2tl352 #bonanzle <for any Yankees fan!

Actually, we should all try to stumble any tweets we may find interesting.

  • Simultaneously post to both your Twitter and Facebook accounts
  • There’s also the ability to schedule your tweets through su.pr  I like to schedule my Retweets for optimal traffic-time on twitter and spread them out throughout the day, morning & evening, depending on the tweet and topic.  You also won’t be spamming your followers with so many Retweets all at once.
  • Su.pr adds the ability to track your tweets and see how many click-throughs have occurred.
  • There is also a su.pr WordPress plugin I use – post to twitter immediately with a shortened su.pr link (instead of bit.ly or tinyurl, etc.)

Download the Su.Pr Plugin

This is just a suggestion, it was mentioned on Mashable – but I think it’s definitely one worth using.

Google Groups LogoI recently formed a WAHM Twitter Retweet Group on Google so that any tweets my followers feel are important are immediately posted to retweet.  We’re all on Twitter at different hours of the day – so it’s impossible to see what’s going on in everyone’s tweet stream!    If you’d like more information, you can visit at: WAHM Blogging Twitter Retweet Group

Clorox & Danny Gokey Team Up – I Don’t Want to Miss …

I Don’t Want to Miss …

Balancing schoolwork with sports practice, play rehearsal, and club meetings complicates any youngster, pre-teen and teen’s life enough without the added burden of getting sick. The dual risk of the seasonal flu as well as the 2009 H1N1 virus, makes this year’s flu season especially complicated.

For millions of parents around the world, the day does not end with the school bell. There are still pictures to be painted, songs to be sung and games to be played. This all adds up to keeping children happy, safe and out of trouble. But, parents have to steer away from going overboard.  My own girls were actively involved in after-school activities such as Brownies, dance lessons, religious classes, and sports.  Parents should keep in mind that in order to keep your children healthy, everything should be in moderation:

After school is not baby-sitting
After school activities thrive only if it is backed by sufficient parental involvement. What would a soccer match be without parents cheering their little heroes from the sidelines?.

Research and choose
Instead of convenience being the decisive factor, find out things that will interest your child. Once you select a program, get the fine print and find out what you have to contribute.

Free time
Many children attend piano classes, followed by ballet and squeeze in some time for play dates in between just before they rush home in time for bed. This rigor is too much for a child. So, go slow.

When to quit
Often, parents enroll their child in an activity to discover that he may not be the prodigy they thought he would be. This is the time to let go. Your child may not become the next wonder-kid. But, let him cultivate an interest that he enjoys. Remember, happiness and fulfillment are all that matter.

Clorox I Don't Want to MissTo help spread the word about flu prevention, former American Idol finalist Danny Gokey has paired up with The Clorox Company to launch I Don’t Want to Miss, a national campaign designed to get kids and their teachers involved in flu prevention.

Danny Gokey - American Idol Finalist

Danny Gokey - American Idol Finalist

Now in its second year, the program features a contest that invites school musical groups, like glee clubs, show choirs, etc.  to develop a video performance of a song written by Berklee College of Music student Will Wells on what they don’t want to miss out on if they were home sick and why prevention is important. The winning school will win a music class led by former American Idol finalist Danny Gokey!

For each entry submitted, The Clorox Company will donate $100 (up to $10,000) to the Sophia’s Heart Foundation, a charity founded by Gokey in honor of his late wife, Sophia, and dedicated to helping children achieve academic success via musical training and restoring musical dreams in children.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that children and teens over 6 months and up to age 18 get flu vaccinations. In addition to vaccination, the most important step in flu prevention, disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and washing hands often play an important role in prevention.

Visit the Clorox page on Facebook to learn more about this creative and informational challenge. For the first 100 groups to submit, the teacher will receive a wellness care package from The Clorox Company.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Clorox and received $20 thank-you gift certificate.

Charter High Speed Sweepstakes – Win a 2010 Camaro SS

Win A Camaro

Image

My husband and I started dating when we were 18.  Over the course of these 35 years, he’s had many cars.  The one that we remember best is the one we had when we got married.

My then-boyfriend, now-husband had taken over the payments of his brother’s 1972 Camero.  It was a 2-door, brown standard.  I don’t think it had air conditioning, but it was so long ago, I don’t remember!  All I know is I can’t drive a standard well, and actually drove it only a few times.

I’m short, and the seats weren’t adjustable like they are now, so I really had a tough time reaching the pedals and the clutch.  When we left our reception, his friends had written “Just Married” all over it with shaving cream- papered it, and generally, just did a number on it.  We actually took it to the carwash while we were still in our tux and wedding gown before we left for the airport!

Several months ago I did a post about how Charter was giving away a laptop every day for two months.  Now Charter switched to giving away a brand new car – a Camaro! And not just any Camaro, the hard to get 2010 Camaro 2SS. (Sales Tax included in the prize)

The contest runs from September 15 through November 26 at noon.

In addition, you can get a $100 gift card when you buy 3 Charter services, $50 gift card for 2 services, and $25 gift card when you buy 1 Charter service!

Charter loves fast. And this new 426 hp Camaro is one of the fastest and hardest cars to get in North America, and they’re giving it away free.

Charter services have always brought your home to life, now they’re bringing your garage to life!

The Gift Cards Charter is giving away are from major retailers in clothing, home and accessories, restaurants and more!

Visit Camaro Sweepstakes to register today and to view the complete rules, specifications on the Camaro and more.

Charter continues to outpace the industry in creative and newsworthy contests from giving away an HDTV every day to Xbox 360s to a Hybrid Car last year.
