Like Matt said I think a lot of us are already doing it and I think truly, it really isn’t that complicated. Thanks for the information to find more on it though! I was wondering.

Im a bit more worried about disclosure with affiliate programs. Like maybe I blog about a product w/ an affiliate link. But I may not make any commission so I don’t have to disclose.

It gets sticky there to me.

I like the banner idea, but I haven’t found one that suits my blogs yet. For now I’ll write my disclosure on my posts until I find one. Very informative post.

Hi Connie – I made my own banner – easy to do in Paint, Photoshop, or Picnik!

Hi Matthew – I have listed most of my affiliates in my Disclosure page also

I also include the affiliate info in my Disclosure policy. I also created a box at the end of every post that links to the Disclosure policy. Some posts do not contain affiliate links or sponsored products, but at least it is always there.

The banner is a good idea though!

I personally am using http://cmp.ly/ for my disclosure but it is interesting to see how everyone is complying with the new rules.

As a Canadian, I don’t think it’s mandatory that I follow the FTC guidelines, but I disclose anyway as I feel it’s the right thing to do – and I appreciate when others do as well. You get ‘duped’ once or twice when you follow a link and soon realize it’s important to be ethical.

I don’t have a problem disclosing, but it seems that now if I want to share something with my readers that I like or find neat without having it presented to me by a company or a PR business I have to disclose that too, or perhaps the FTC will think I forgot!

Like “Hey I’m sharing this product with you because I saw it at the store, and I think it is something that would be really neat in your home, but the company didn’t pay me or give me free product to share it with you.” LOL!

In any case I disclose on each post.

    1) i think the FTC is idiotic. If anyone believes every single thing on the internet as fact becuase its typed out, they deserve a smack. You don’t need a disclosure for that.

    2) most bloggers have been doing it anyway

    3) Its not that i am not happy about it, i believe it helps bloggers be recognized for the media they are, but i do think we spend to much time on it overall.

Like Lisa I’ve been using the http://cmp.ly/ website. Makes it easy. Although now I find myself disclosing when it’s NOT a paid/suggested post which is ridiculous. I think disclosure is important – but the FTC needs a hobby. Aren’t there more important things to worry about?

it’s always good to have full disclosure. I’m very happy the FTC finally came up with a policy that protects consumers from unscrupulous marketers trying to make a quick buck with fake endorsements
