Baby Bunch-Gifts for Mom and Baby: Giveaway

Practical Bouquets

Baby Bunch Baby Clothes Bouquet

Say It With Baby Bunch Flowers

As a Baby Boomer, I’ve been to many baby showers in my lifetime.  Just as each pregnancy and baby are unique, so are the showers I’ve attended.

Some baby showers are simple affairs – held at home, with just a few munchies out on the table.  Over the years, showers have become more elaborate, some are brunches and luncheons held at the mom-to-be’s favorite restaurant.

When I put together the baby shower for my daughter when she was expecting ‘Lil Moomette, I held a luncheon, and made all the centerpieces out of baby bottles. You can find the directions on my sidebar.

Baby Bunch LogoRecently I had the opportunity to let you know about the Baby Bunch. I wish I had known about this when ‘Lil Moomette was on the way!  It’s not only functional, but would have made a beautiful table centerpiece!

Baby Bunch CupcakesBaby Bunch, which has been featured on Martha Stewart, offers refreshingly different baby gift baskets, presented as bouquets, cupcakes and candy. Because they’re made of baby clothes, the gifts are not only practical, but they’re also beautiful!   The baby clothes are arranged into “baby bouquets”, “crayon boxes”, “lollipops” or “cupcakes.”

The company was started by Bryony and Simon Boxer after the birth of the first son:

“The Baby Bunch combines practicality with presentation,” says Bryony Boxer, founder of The Baby Bunch along with her husband Simon Martin. “We wanted to create a gift that was attractive yet useful and offers everything a baby needs to get the best possible start in life.”

I received the Classic medium Baby Bunch, which was presented in a floral gift box with clear lid.  The presentation is so pretty!  The clothing items are all wrapped tightly, to look like flower buds.  Encircling the clothing are green fabric leaves and rosebuds, which can later be saved in a baby book or as keepsake treasures of the occasion!

Inside each “Baby Bunch” are:

  • 2 Onesies
  • Hat
  • T-shirt
  • Bib
  • 2 Pair Socks

Baby Bunch Classic Medium Yellow

All of the clothing is soft, 100% cotton, and is sized from 0-6 months, up to 16 lbs.  Organic clothing is offered in sizes 6-12 months.

Baby Bunch BasketSpring is just around the corner, and there will be plenty of new babies being born!  You’ll find gifts for Mom or Grandmom, as well as unisex gifts, girl gifts and boy gifts.  There’s Free Shipping (twins)! When you order two large buckets!

Baby Bunch is offering email subscribers of Moomette’s Magnificents a 15% discount on any of their products, excluding the cost of shipping through the end of March, 2010.  Please contact me for the Promo Code which I will send to you after you become an email subscriber.

Elephantito: Classic Trendy Children’s Clothing and Shoes

A Modern Approach to Classics

Elephantito Childrens Clothing

Luxury Boutique Clothing for Kids

When my girls were younger, I always preferred classic, yet trendy fashion styles for them.  Quite often they were dressed in hand-smocked, Polly Flinders dresses.  My husband and I also believed in choosing quality well-made shoes to support their tiny feet.  That probably stemmed from the fact that when I was single I worked in the big city.  My lunch hour was spent trying on my favorite Ferragamo shoes at one of Hartford’s finest department stores at the time.

Elephantito Red Leather Mary Jane Girls ShoesRecently I was sent the most beautiful pair of classic red leather Mary Jane shoes from Elephantito in size 2. As ‘Lil Moomette is 3 years old now, they were too small for her to try on.

Elephantito is a luxury line of clothes and shoes for babies and children up to 8 years old.  They offer fashions for both girls and boys.

Elephantito appeals to buyers looking for quality and comfort for their children and gorgeous gifts for stylish moms-to-be. Founded by Maria Frallicciardi in 2004, ELEPHANTITO has successfully established itself as a luxury brand with impeccable style, outstanding craftsmanship and unrivalled customer service.

Elephantito LogoBesides shoes, Elephantito offers a magnificent line of fashionable clothing for toddlers, including smocked dresses much like those I would dress my daughters in!

If you’re looking for classic clothing for your daughters or granddaughters for special occasions or Easter that won’t go out of style, be sure to visit Elephantito.

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn – Fun With Friends Musical Table – Review

Developmental Benefits for Baby

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Musical Table

Award Winner

Since my grandson Slugger was born, I’ve found that boys are entirely different than girls when it comes to discovery.  I’ve had two daughters, and my granddaughter ‘Lil Moomette is now three.

Slugger just bulldozes ahead with curiosity.  He’ll play with a toy, or whatever catches his attention until he has it all figured out!

Fisher Price LogoI recently had the opportunity to review the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Musical Friends Table.

Fisher Price Laugh & Learn We had a similar, earlier version of this table for ‘Lil Moomette, but found that this version has more activities and  keeps her entertained.  The legs on the Fun With Friends Musical Table are higher than the older version.  Actually, the kids compete to use it!  Slugger will grab the phone, and say “Hello”; or he’ll keep flipping open or closing the storybook pages.

There are four corners of activity to keep the grandkids busy while learning. The table allows toddlers to either sit and play or stand and cruise while learning.

The learning center has flashing lights as well as friendly characters to encourage exploration.

Activities foster and encourages learning of:

  • Letters
  • Numbers
  • Counting
  • First words
  • Colors, shapes, opposites, animals and more
  • Bilingual – in English and Spanish

Musical fun includes sing-along songs, tunes, real instrument sounds and a variety of music styles.

There are several different modes that are accessed through a simple switch.  The Imagination mode brings imitative play to life with real-life sounds, piano keys, phone tones and more.

As a grandmom, I can definitely say that any pre-school, daycare provider, homeschool or mom-to-be would appreciate one of these for a baby shower!

This is a fun, educational toy to put on your holiday shopping list this Christmas season.

By registering at Fisher Price you’ll have an opportunity to download and print an in-store coupon that entitles you to $20 off a $100 purchase of Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn™ and/or Go Baby Go!™ Infant Toys.

Requires 3 AA batteries.

Table measures approx. 18½” W x 18½” L x 15″ H when fully assembled.
Ages: 6-36 months
Product:    M9972
Approx. Retail Price: $45.00

Available at: Fisher Price

Fisher-Price Elmo’s Tickle Hands Glove

Tickle Hand Groove

Elmo's Tickle Hands Glove Fisher-Price

Holiday Shopping Online

Who else wouldn’t want a toy that tells jokes and stories, and also sings and dances? For good reason, Elmo Live, based on the Sesame Street Character Elmo, was one of the hottest toys in past years. Like past years when the Tickle Me Elmo’s took the world by storm, this toy was supposed to be an item your kids will want desperately.

Elmo Live was marketed by Fisher-Price, and it was being dubbed as having the most advanced movement for an Elmo toy. The previous Elmo item that could compare with this one was the “extreme edition”. A few reasons that people loved Elmo Live is because it featured excellent animatronics showcases, he is a known and loved character, he is fun to watch, the price was actually quite affordable, and it proved to be a great toy for children over 18 months old.

This Christmas holiday shopping season, the new kid on the block is Elmo Tickle Hands from Fisher-Price.  The recommended ages is 18 months to 4 years.  Elmo Tickle Hands fit over your own children’s hands.  As soon as the hands touch a surface, they begin to vibrate and the kids will hear Elmo’s signature giggle!  It also comes with a DVD where the kids will be able to dance to the song, “The Tickle Hand Groove.” This is a toy that encourages hours of creative fun for any toddler or pre-schooler!

Be diligent about looking for it, as it may be hard to come by.   Like other items that have been hard to find in the past, you can find them if you are willing to put in the extra efforts.

One of the places that will that will be carrying the Elmo Tickle Hands is Shop.com.  The key to obtaining one is to start shopping now as you have some time before Christmas. By being persistent, you may be able to find one somewhere.

The price point on the Elmo Tickle Hands glove is around $29.99 which doesn’t put it out of reach for too many people this Christmas season. For a toy that will be so popular the price isn’t bad at all. Make sure you don’t miss out on the toy of the year! Purchase your Elmo Tickle Hands online at Shop.com today. You can still find it.

In the past, I’ve touched on topics about tapping into your interests and hidden talent, and parlaying them into a career where you turn your interests into a business. Many readers or their families have become victims of the current recession, and are actively seeking gainful employment. Some, like me, are considering either retiring, or trying to determine a move to another career that will spark our interest – whether it be something entirely different from what we’ve been doing in the past, or entirely new venture.

Perhaps you are off-ramping from corporate life to take time out to raise your children.

I have been inviting bloggers and writers to Guest Blog on my Meet My Friend meme to share their ideas and experiences with my readers who are interested in becoming a mompreneur.

If you have a WAHM or Momepreneur topic of interest that you’d like to share and be a Guest Blogger on Moomette’s Magnificents, please contact me (see Contact tab above).

Sew Fierce Etsy Banner

Sew Fierce GardenHello everyone from Sunny San Diego. Thank you Cindi for asking me to do a guest post on your wonderful blog, it is an honor.  My name is Stephanie I am a mother to two amazing toddler girls and wife to a wonderful, supportive man whom serves our country in the United States Marine Corps.

Isn’t it funny how we cannot tell people who we are without stating we are a mother and or wife? Sometimes it’s like our former identity has disappeared and now all we are is a mother to someone and or a wife to someone else. As much as I love my family I am more and when days are hard we need to remind ourselves of this.

So while half of me is a wife and mother, my alter ego is an online shop owner and blogger. I have a infant and toddler boutique called Sew Fierce that I started a year ago.

I remember watching my mom when I was very young making clothes for my Barbie’s and matching outfits for myself. I loved every little outfit because it was something special she did just for me. While my sewing adventure started with hemming curtains for my room, I soon moved on to making my first queen size quilt when I realized I was going to need a hobby while on bed rest after my second knee surgery.

After recovery my life became busy and I stopped sewing. A few years later I married my now husband and after a few months of trying and failing, we were pregnant with our first baby girl. It wasn’t until my second pregnancy, also a baby girl, that I finally got back into sewing. I saw some adorable outfits my girlfriends where making for their daughters and decided to try my hand at clothing for my then two year old toddler. At the same time I was cloth diapering my newborn baby girl and thought making my own All In One diapers would be fun. I soon realized I was having so much fun making clothing for my toddler as well as bibs, burps and blankets for my infant that this was a great hobby.

With much encouragement from my close friends and family I decided to open an online shop.

Sew Fierce Princess AlineMy main focus was to offer my handmade products at a great price. I would see so many beautiful and awe inspiring outfits and accessories for infants and toddlers at boutiques both in town and online, but as a now stay at home mom and military wife it just was not in my budget to spend $100 on a one of a kind outfit. So I thought if I could offer similar products for a great price “that any mommy on any budget could afford”, I would be happy.

Soon after opening my store my girlfriend Sharon suggested I open a blog – Get my name out there and let people get to know me as a mother, wife and business owner. Meet the person behind the Sew Fierce name and feel good knowing that if you buy from me you get top quality and someone who prides themselves in only giving my customers the best of what I have to offer. My blog, A Pocket Full Of Buttons has turned out to be more than I ever would have thought. It has been great therapy for me and I have so many wonderful ladies and new friends like Cindi because of it.

While my online business started with making bibs, burps and crayon Rollie Pollies, I soon added the clothing line. I have to say the clothing is my biggest joy. Seeing each piece finished is a thrill and when someone buys an outfit or a dress and tells me how much they love it, I then know that this is what I am meant to do.

And how awesome is it that I can do this from home with my girls by my side!

Stephanie has generously offered Moomette’s Magnificents  to host a Giveaway Contest! For a chance to win, there will be one (1) winner of a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Sew Fierce to be used on any products
custom or ready to ship.

Please include a way of contacting you. Should you be the contest winner, this information may be shared with the contest sponsor in order to send your prize.

If I Could Turn Back Time: Part 4 – The Kids Arrive

Time Passes Quickly Into The Future

Vintage Pocket Watch

I’m having so much fun this week trudging down memory lane. (I think.)

Actually, I’m on MomDot’s forum, and TellingDad, the only male member there, made a statement that gave me the inspiration for this post.

If I Could Turn Back Time

Our firstborn came along nine years after we were married – born in 1983.  The 1980s found me knee deep in kids, diapers, and work.

Falmouth, Cape Cod

Preggo - Falmouth, Cape Cod

I was eco-friendly, green and cloth-diapering before it even became fashionable.  You young gals today make me laugh – it’s as if you invented it.  We just DID IT.

Pampers and a few other brands were just coming out then, but my mom got me a diaper service for one month.  After that, I was on my own.  Diaper pails, Dreft and Borax.  And  big yellow safety pins.  I even think I kept some.

The big decision then, which stirred a lot of controversy was … do I go back to work.  There were two schools of thought – either you did, or you didn’t.  I went part time.

Which makes me laugh again, because foremost, my generation was fighting that glass-ceiling thing, which still hasn’t been settled.  We wanted to keep our careers on the fast-track, yet we wanted to stay home with the kiddos.

There was the playgroup, tennis/pool club set – and then there were those of us who had to work to pay the mortgage.

So really, this whole controversy is nothing new, and hasn’t changed in 20 years.

I worked three days per week in a law office, and made up the other two by working at home at night on a (gasp!) state-of-the-art Royal electric typewriter – which totaled 40 hours.

Fortunately, my daycare was split between my mom and my mother-in-law.

Days off found me down the Connecticut beaches

Or inviting myself over to my girlfriend’s house visiting my friends who happened to have pools.

Take note of the Farrah Fawcett – Princess Di hairdo….

Pool Party 1983

That first Mother’s Day was super fun with all the holidays – I really enjoyed dressing up my daughter!  When DD became a mom and celebrated her first Mother’s Day, it certainly brought back memories!

I used to love the Rothschild coat, hat and leggings sets – and even managed to get one for ‘Lil Moomette when she was about the same age!  Little stinker threw up on it the first time she wore it though.  Guess who footed the dry cleaning bill?

Darling Daughter #2 came along in 1987, and then the fun really began!  I never had a sister, so I was kind of happy that both of my kids were girls.

Sesame Street Bubble Bath and Fizzy Tub Colors – Review and Giveaway

The Village Company

Sesame Street Playables Bath Products

Sesame Street Bath Products

Bath time has certainly evolved since I was a kid – I barely remember bubble bath, if at all, and if I was fortunate enough to use the sudsy stuff, it probably belonged to my mom.

When my daughters were younger, I did use some bubble bath for them on occasion, but mostly since they were 4 years apart, just got them in and out of the tub along with some tub toys in a hurry.

The Village Company LogoRecently I’ve had the opportunity to review Sesame Street® Wet Wild Watermelon Bubble Bath and Sesame Street Fizzy Tub Colors from The Village Company.

My grandkids love to take “tubbies” every night, and as most kids do, love to play in water. ‘Lil Moomette absolutely loves to play in the water, and Slugger, at 11 months, is just getting used to the idea that maybe, just maybe, this water business might be fun!  If my daughter is pressed for time, sometimes the two grandkids are put in the tub together.

Sesame Street Bubble Bath

sesamewaterbbpage1The Sesame Street Wet Wild Watermelon Bubble Bath provides plenty of long lasting bubbles.  What I liked best is that it has natural ingredients, such as wheat protein, which provides gentle cleansing and moisture for their soft skin.

  • No animal testing/ ingredients
  • 16 fl oz (473 ml)
  • Made in the USA

Sesame Street Fizzy Tub Colors

Sesame Street Fizzy Tub ColorsThe Sesame Street Fizzy Tub Colors turn the water into bright colors and make bath time extra fun!  While multi-tasking, the kids not only get clean, but also can learn to mix colors!  It’s easy to use, just add 1 to 2 tablets while tub is filling.

The formula is child-friendly, mild and contains Bitterguard, in order to discourage consumption by the kiddies.

I just might try this out myself for a home spa-treatment!

  • 24 tablets | 2.5 oz (73 g)
  • No animal testing/ ingredients
  • For use under adult supervision
