Lands’ End
Upcoming FeelGood Twitter Party
Several years ago I was visiting my friend in New Hampshire, and as we spoke she was crocheting infant hats for the neo-natal unit at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital. They were so cute – and didn’t use much yarn to make. Several could easily be made in the course of a night while watching TV.
That whole winter I occupied my time making the hats for charity, and shared the pattern with my coworkers. I sent up bags full for my friend to bring to Dartmouth.
I’d like to let you know about the Lands’ End FeelGood Campaign. This initiative is a terrific way to shop and feel good about giving to homeless individuals and families across the country. For every Lands’ End FeelGood sweater purchased, the company will donate signature FeelGood yarn to One Heart Foundation’s Warming Families, a nationwide knitting charity. Lands’ End expects to donate thousands of pounds of yarn to the charity where volunteers plan to knit up to 25,000 hats and other items to warm the homeless and displaced.
One cone of FeelGood yarn is enough to make 28 hats.
Help us spread the word about the campaign and the FeelGood collection. For every blog post about the campaign from now until September 16th, we will donate a cone of FeelGood yarn to volunteer knitters at Warming Families. One cone of FeelGood yarn is enough to make 28 hats to be donated to homeless individuals in communities across the country.
Embed Video – We’ve also created a knitting “how to” video you can embed featuring Vickie Howell, best-selling craft author and host of TV’s Knitty Gritty. It can be found on the Lands’ End YouTube channel here: Lands End.
Send a Link – Once your post is complete, please send a copy to TwitterParty@landsend.com. We will update everyone on how many cones of yarn were contributed as a result of your efforts at the FeelGood Twitter Party on September 16th.
Your Chance to Win
When you send your post to TwitterParty@landsend.com you will automatically be entered for a chance to win the FeelGood collection including two sweaters and coordinating accessories (valued at $200). Three winners will be chosen at random and contacted on September 17th.
Join Lands’ End and Vickie Howell, host of TV’s Knitty Gritty for a Twitter Party to celebrate the kickoff of the FeelGood Campaign. The party will feature more than 20 fun giveaways ranging from the FeelGood sweater and Vickie Howell’s books to Lands’ End Gift Cards and FeelGood yarn.
Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2009
Time: 7pm until 9 pm CST
Location: #landsend

Ice Cream Parlor Set – Melissa and Doug – Review and Giveaway

Filed under Reviews & Buzz, children, education, family, giveaways, parenting, toddlers
Play Food
Ice Cream Parlor Set
It’s really been an enjoyable summer watching the grand-kids interact with each other.
Slugger just celebrated his first birthday and is really trying to keep up with his older sister, ‘Lil Moomette.
My husband and I got the kids a playhouse as a joint birthday gift. We liked to watch how our own kids developed while using their little imaginations during unstructured playtime.
I was recently offered the opportunity to review the Ice Cream Parlor Set from Melissa & Doug’s Play Food line.
What we like about this enchanting set is that pretend play encourages ‘Lil Moomette to use her imagination as well as aid in identifying her colors, while encourages sharing. The set includes:
- 2 ice cream cones
- 4 colorful ice cream scoops in different flavors/colors (strawberry/pink; mint/green; chocolate/brown and vanilla/white
- 2 scoopers
- It comes nicely packaged in a fun freezer case.
This toy certainly brings back memories for me too, because one of my first jobs in high school was scooping ice cream in the summer!
Melissa & Doug toys are an excellent value for their price, realistically designed and are a wonderful addition to any home school or pre-school curriculum.
Other items from the Play Food line include: Produce Farm-Fresh Fruit; Slice and Bake Cookie Set; Birthday Party; Sandwich Making Set and Sushi Slicing Play Set.
This is a toy that is versatile for not only outdoor play, but also those rainy and winter days when the kids are cooped-up inside.
Melissa & Doug also offer Arts and Crafts; Stuffed Animals and Toys; Trains, Vehicles as well.
Melissa & Doug toys are CPSIA compliant.

Back-To-School: SmartKnitKIDS Sensitivity Socks – Review and Giveaway
Back-To-School
SmartKnitKIDS
Now that it’s August, the Labor Day holiday weekend is almost around the corner, and that means it’ll be Back-To-School!
This is the first time in 17 years that I won’t be sending one of my girls off to school – they’ve both graduated college!
It won’t be too long though before ‘Lil Moomette will be off to kindergarten. I’m sure I’ll be right there when her mom is taking that first school picture.
I actually have quite a collection of pictures and even continued the tradition right up to the time we packed up the mini-van or car and sent them both off to college!
Both of my girls went to private all-girls schools, and had to wear uniforms. The oldest couldn’t stand to wear tights or socks, because they would always bother her feet.
I’ve recently had the opportunity to review SmartKnitKIDS seamless socks.
SmartKnitKIDS seamless crew socks are perfect for kids with sensory processing disorder, or for those who just won’t wear socks with seams.
The patented form-fitting design ensures that these socks fit like a second skin – they won’t wrinkle or bunch. The tops of SmartKnitKIDS socks are also elastic band-free, which assures that the kids won’t have any annoying and sometimes painful indentations on their legs.
SmartKnitKIDS socks are available in white, pink, purple, navy & black.
A size chart makes finding the right size easy.
For more information visit: SmartKnitKIDS
Moomette’s Magnificents is hosting a Giveaway Contest! For a chance to win, there will be one (1) winner of three pairs (3 pairs) SmartKnitKIDS seamless socks.
Please include a way of contacting you. Should you be the contest winner, this information may be shared with the contest sponsor in order to send your prize.
Main Rule: (remember if this rule is not followed then no others will count)
a) Sign up for my free Newsletter Updates to my blog through my e-mail Feedblitz link (on the top of my right column or let me know if you already are, in a separate comment) AND
b) Visit SmartKnitKIDS and leave a comment about another fact that wasn’t mentioned in this post and another product you’d like to try.

Get Organized For Back-To-School or Work: Busy Body Book – Personal & Family Organizers – Review and Giveaway
Organize Your Life
Personal and Family Grid Organizer
You would think that although my kids are grown, I no longer have to keep track of dance lessons, lacrosse or soccer games, cross-country meets and other school activities.
As chief mom (and grandmom!) around here, there’s still plenty of organizing to do.
I make notes of what days I have to pick up the grandkids from daycare; what day grandmom’s on-call to babysit when the kids go out on those Saturday night date nights; birthdays, anniversaries – you know how it goes!
Sometimes I even manage to fit in some personal time for hair appointments, manicures & pedicures!
Now that I blog , I still have to keep up with all the product review and contest giveaway schedules.
While there are pros and cons to digital organizers, in previous posts here I’ve dicussed under my work-at-home section of this blog the benefits of returning to good old-fashioned pen and paper as a means of keeping myself organized.
I’ve recently had the opportunity to review Busy Body Book planners and organizers which contain a weekly GRID format to make managing your time is a breeze!
The most efficient solution to every Mom’s scheduling chaos! Each family member, with their own personal column, can plan and track their activities while they organize and coordinate with one another “side by side.”
This organizer certainly would have come in handy when I was taking the girls to visit colleges during their junior year of high school!
Features that I like include:
- 2 Monthly Planners
- Months-at-a-glance -An overview to help plan ahead for the holidays, vacations, or special events.
- Key contact pages -2 Pages for your emergency contact information, doctors, coaches, babysitters…
- Removable shopping lists – Perforated pages for creating handy grocery or gift lists.
- 2 Pockets – Inside front & back covers provide a deep pocket to hold important papers, receipts, coupons…
- Bookmark – Easily flip to the current week with this unique bookmark that grabs the spiral.
- Notes – A full page each week for notes, to do’s, lists, or alerts. Plenty of notes pages in back of BBB too to record and keep important information.
Plus there’s a sturdy, clear plastic cover to keep it all protected!
Whether your kids are going Back-to-School or you homeschool, or you’re trying to organize and simplify your busy Work-at-Home Mom business, see how this organizer can help you save your sanity!

Baby Bedding By Carousel Designs – Review and Giveaway
June 28, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Carousel Designs
Carousel Designs Baby Bedding
My daughters were born in the 1980s. Whenever there was a night feeding that was needed, my husband would nudge me and of course I’d be the one who had to get up and make the bottle to feed the babies.
I inherited many of my grandmother’s antique period pieces of furniture, and have several rockers. One is a Lady Windsor rocker in cherry – it has the slatted back and is very elegant and you’ll still find them in New England colonial homes, and the other is a Lady Lincoln Rocker, much like the one pictured here. I’d venture down to the living room in the middle of the night, and rock my babies as I fed them, the Black Lab at my feet.
Moms today breastfeed, and the new rocker of choice is the glider. When my granddaughter, ‘Lil Moomette was born, my daughter received a glider as a baby shower gift along with many decorative pillows to coordinate with her baby bedding.
I’m delighted to be able to let you know about Carousel Designs. Not only do they offer decorative and coordinating nursery pillows, they also offer crib bedding.
I received a beautiful Blue Modern Dot Decorative pillow. The pillow itself is a coordinate in the Blue Modern Dot Collection and is composed of Solid Blue Minky and edged in Chocolate Minky. The pillow is approximately 12″ x 9″ and a pillow form is included. It’s really comfortable and coordinates well with my grandson’s room – I can’t believe he’ll be celebrating his First Birthday in August!
Carousel Designs has been designing and manufacturing baby crib bedding for over 21 years right in the USA!
If you have an upcoming Baby Shower for a daughter, daughter-in-law or special friend, you’ll find a wonderful selection of boy crib bedding and custom crib bedding certain to please the new mom-to-be. If you’re matching a bedding set to a specific color scheme, swatches are available and are a great way to “touch and feel” the product before placing an order.
