You Better Be Good
We took the grandkids, ‘Lil Moomette (3) and Slugger (16 months) to see Santa at Wickham Park in Manchester, Connecticut on Sunday.
It’s so magical there, and my most favorite place to visit! It’s not commercialized, like the shopping malls. The park, high up on a hill overlooking Hartford, is beautiful in winter – all decked out with colored lights, and we went when the sun was starting to set!
Santa’s helpers, the elves were there, along with train sets, a roaring fire in the fieldstone fireplace; Mrs. Claus was passing out cookies, and there was a huge Christmas tree that reached the top of the cathedral ceiling in the log cabin house!
Happy Holidays from my family to yours!

Music Box CD – Children’s Music By Mary Kaye – Review and Giveaway

Children’s Music Box CD
The first thing that ‘Lil Moomette asks when we get in the car as I pick her and Slugger up from daycare is “put in my CD.” That’s ‘Lil Moomette’s way of saying – I’d like some music on.
I think it’s important that kids today be exposed to many different types of music. While I tend to listen to Country on the radio while I’m in the car (no Sirius for us), my husband tends to listen to Rock. Whatever it is that my daughters listen to if they borrow my car, I tend to change the station right away as soon as I regain possession.
Slugger, my grandson, will be celebrating his First Birthday in August. He’s at that adorable age now where he recognizes and responds to music by bouncing to the tunes and shaking his little booty. Do guys have a booty?
Anyway, I had the wonderful opportunity to review a new CD of original Children’s Music by Mary Kaye, called “Music Box.”
Mary’s music has been played on radio shows for children across the United States, and internationally, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
Mary is a New England singer/songwriter musician based in Maine, and her folk style immediately took me back to those “coffee house” days when I was a teenager, almost reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, or Natalie Merchant. She’s performed all over New England at children’s museums and festivals.
The song list includes:
- Under the Moon
- Bug
- Robbie Robot
- Music Box
- Family
- Hot Chocolate Fairy
- Tasting Tea
- Red Cardinal
- Turtley Turleoo
- Sea Water
- Hobbly Dobbly House; and
- Sleepy Land
This CD is recommended for Grade Levels Toddler through 3rd Grade
Length: 28 min. 41 sec
ISBN: 884501132640
Suggested Retail: $15
This would make a terrific Birthday Gift, or addition for your family, daycare or homeschooling curriculum!
Available on Amazon

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage, Then Comes Grandma Pushing ~ Baby Strollers!
July 18, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

Many of my faithful readers know that I’m soon to be a Grandma again for the second time.

My oldest daughter and Charming Son-In-Law are expecting their second child, a boy this time, at the end of July or beginning of August. There’s no name picked out for this little guy yet, so I just call him ‘Slugger.’ His dad was a 4-year letter-winner lefty pitcher in college, and could have been destined for the big-time, had he not fallen in love with my daughter.
I threw a huge Baby Shower when my daughter was expecting ‘Lil Moomette, who’s now 20 months old. Many of the baby items can be used again, but my daughter’s definitely going to need a new stroller. As I bought the first crib, I’ll most likely will also be in the market for trendy baby strollers.
Since I’m an avid online shopper, I’ll be checking out double strollers from top brands like Graco, Chicco, Maclaren and Joovy.
Why does shopping always give this Baby Boomer Grandma such great pleasure?

Second Time Around ~ Family Vacations & Tours ~ Grandchildren Included
June 23, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

Now that summer’s officially here, along with the hot, humid weather that I absolutely love (really), Darling Daughter and I were talking about the memorable family vacation we took to
Disney World in August many years ago.
The kiddos were about 7 and 11, and we had saved for a year to take that trip and stay at the Polynesian. My granddaughter, ‘Lil Moomette, will turn 2 in October, and Darling Daughter is already making noises that she would like to make the trip again, only this time with both sets of grandparents in tow!
I think we’d have a blast, and hope that my Baby Boomer body will be able to keep up the pace like I did so long ago!
This time around, I’m going to let my daughter do the planning, and suggest she contact Trusted Tours & Attractions for reservations. There’s plenty of things to do in Orlando that we didn’t get to do the first time around. Charming Son-In-Law has been there with his family too, so we’ll have to put our collaborative heads together and check out the online travel guides.
Since we’re all from New England, we can get a jump start by flying out of New York, and maybe even leave a day ahead and take in some New York City tours!
Trusted Tours and Attractions offers discounted tickets to the best sightseeing tours in 23 cities across America.
Planning your next vacation? Looking for ideas on what to do? Sign up for the Trusted Travels newsletter and enter to win a handheld GPS Offer ends June 30th, 2008.

Introducing my New Blog ~ Moomette’s Mama Mentor ~ Personal Musings
April 25, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under baby boomer, family, parenting, work at home

I’d like to thank all my loyal readers of Moomettesgram’s Musings. Your emails and comments have inspired me to split off and create a whole separate new blog.
I’ve decided to split Moomettesgram’s Musings in half. While I’ve been covering a lot of base with work-at-home tips for WAHMs and WAHDs; parenting, grandparenting and ebiz & eBay tips, I’d also been adding in some musings.
My newly launched blog is Moomette’s Mama Mentor Blog where I feel I’ll be able to muse to my heart’s content on a different level.
My primary reason for establishing Mama Mentor is that I’ve grown to enjoy blogging. Having joined Entrecard and Mom Blogs has pointed me in the direction of many, many wonderful blogs that focus primarily on reflections and general family life!
Now that my family is grown, and growing again, there’s so much I’d like to reflect on personally, and Mama Mentor will be that vehicle!
You’ll find the link at the top of this site under “My Other Blog.” Please stop on by and leave some comments!
I hope you’ll join me on my journey.

Earth Day is April 22, 2008 – Conserve Energy to Save the Planet for your Kids & Grandkids to Enjoy – Musings
April 18, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

Earth Day is April 22, 2008 this year.
The first Earth Day was April 22, 1970. That was the year I was a Senior in high school, the Vietnam War was raging, and it was a very tumultuous period. We all wanted to be Flower Children. My DH recalls Earth Day specifically as he flew out and back that same day from Connecticut to visit Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where he ended up going to college.
The photo pictured above is one of my favorites that I took this past summer while on a camping trip to the Connecticut shoreline (come visit us!) I can’t imagine living anywhere that isn’t close to some type of water or anything nautical ~ specifically the ocean, but I’ll take a lake. Summer and Fall are my favorite seasons. I love the smell of the salt water, marshes, (my family disagrees with me here,) the scrub pine needles. I love the four seasons; scents of beach Rose Begosa; and sand between my toes. Nothing is more peaceful than falling asleep to the sound of lapping waves. Cape Cod, Massachusetts has got to be one of my favorite places on the planet. I prefer to think of it in the past tense ~ think “Summer of ‘42” ~ when it wasn’t so crowded, and “discovered”. You can’t beat Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard for tranquility. Ask Bill. I’m looking forward to perhaps some day camping there again with my family, charming Son-in-Law, ‘lil Moomette, and her soon-to-be born brother.
So much has changed since 1970. I’m a Boomer now, on the verge of retirement. Not only do I not look the same, but I know the earth isn’t the same as I remember, either. As an Analyst, my current FT profession is focused on Energy Conservation and heavily promotes Green Clean Products, Energy Efficiency, Fire Prevention, Environmental Protection, Recycling, Water Conservation and more. I am responsible for researching trends on a daily basis and keeping up with current events. What I’m seeing isn’t pretty.
Do something special this year in honor of the day. Save the Earth, for your children and grandchildren.
