Sesame Street
Ice Cream Truck Building Set
I have a brother who’s three years younger than me. We each had our own toys. I tended to stick with the “girly” things while he, of course, had toys that were specific to boys. I do remember playing with some of his toys that were geared for construction and building – where one could really get creative and use their imagination.
Now that I have grandchildren, I can see how time have changed, somewhat, and now many toys are “unisex” and this change has even taken place since my own daughters where little.
Recently I had the opportunity to review the Ice Cream Truck Building Set from the Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection Building Set from K’NEX.
K’NEX is the next generation of construction sets and while inspiriting creativity, building self-confidence and encouraging interaction among children and their parents.
The Sesame Street Neighborhood Collection Building Sets encourage children to build and then play with their favorite Sesame Street friends, including Elmo, Cookie Monster and Ernie.
Features include:
- 18 pieces to build Elmo and his ice cream truck!
- Includes “Play & Learn” activity sheet featuring educational and fun activities designed specifically for preschoolers and their parents.
This 18-piece building set pairs perfectly with the Neighborhood Collection 1-2-3 Brownstone Building Set. Look for all the Neighborhood Collection Building Sets so your child can build his own!
As a grandmom, I always looked for toys that would promote physical development and cognitive development for their birthdays or Christmas holiday season. Since Sesame Street is celebrating it’s 40th Anniversary, the Elmo, Cookie Monster and Ernie are easily recognizable, and what kid isn’t excited by an ice cream truck!
The classic activities are designed to help preschoolers like ‘Lil Moomette, age 3 and Slugger, age 1 to learn to count, recognize colors and identify shapes.
Recommended Ages: 2-5
Available at: Walmart, Target and Amazon and Toys R US
Guess what? There’s also a contest! You can also enter the K’NEXion contest and have the chance to win over $1,000 worth of K’NEX Toys and be featured on the KNEX.com web site. How? Make a video and include select K’NEX products. The possibilities are endless. Construct your own story or showcase your child’s K’NEX building skills – use your imagination!
The 10 best videos will be featured on KNEX.com and the winning video will receive $1,000 worth of K’NEX Toys. See website for rules to enter.

Dirt Devil Gator 10.8V Cordless Hand Vacuum – Review
October 25, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Reviews & Buzz, children, family, frugal, lifestyle
Energy Star Compliant

25th Anniversary of Dirt Devil
As I’ve been married for over 35 years, I’ve had several different vacuums by various manufactures.
Currently I own a Dirt Devil Pet Vac Legacy Rewind with hepa filter. I also own a Dirt Devil Easy Steamer Carpet Shampooer. I find their products to be very reputable and affordable.
Recently I’ve had the opportunity to review a new Dirt Devil Gator 10.8v Cordless Hand Vacuum from the Gator Series™.
This past summer I went camping to the Connecticut shore with my daughter, son-in-law and the grandkids. As I have two car-seats, we used my car when we were driving from our camp site to the beach, or out to dinner. Needless to say, my car collected quite a bit of sand in it!
After charging the vacuum, I found the Dirt Devil Gator quite powerful and it did a good job collecting all the sand and other debris that collected on my car seats and floor mats.
I also tested it on the carpeted stairs to the second floor, and was amazed at the amount of cat hair that this little vacuum picked up!
When I went to empty it, once I slid the tabs back, I can see where the name was derived from – it actually did look like an alligator’s mouth! The filter was full, however easy to clean.
The Dirt Devil® Gator Series™ dirt cup flips open for easy emptying versus the traditional two-piece dirt cup that requires users to take the unit apart and remove dirt and dust with their hands. Now, you’ll be able to just press the release buttons and empty debris without touching the dirt, saving both time and effort.
This whole new line of hand vacs marks the 25th anniversary of Dirt Devil’s powerful and compact cleaning product entering the marketplace. The Gator Series vary in voltage (10.8V-18V) and price ($29.99-$59.99) and will be available at Target and Best Buy.
Features Include:
- Dirt Devil® Gator 10.8VTM
- Cordless Hand Vacuum
- Gator SeriesTM Dirt Cup for easy emptying
- Powerful suction for quick clean ups
- Built-in crevice tool for cleaning tight spaces
- ENERGY STAR approval
- 3-Year Warranty
If you’re looking for a reasonably priced yet powerful, easy-to-use hand vac, I would recommend putting this on your holiday shopping list for the car enthusiast, new grads or newlyweds.

Tickle Hand Groove
Holiday Shopping Online
Who else wouldn’t want a toy that tells jokes and stories, and also sings and dances? For good reason, Elmo Live, based on the Sesame Street Character Elmo, was one of the hottest toys in past years. Like past years when the Tickle Me Elmo’s took the world by storm, this toy was supposed to be an item your kids will want desperately.
Elmo Live was marketed by Fisher-Price, and it was being dubbed as having the most advanced movement for an Elmo toy. The previous Elmo item that could compare with this one was the “extreme edition”. A few reasons that people loved Elmo Live is because it featured excellent animatronics showcases, he is a known and loved character, he is fun to watch, the price was actually quite affordable, and it proved to be a great toy for children over 18 months old.
This Christmas holiday shopping season, the new kid on the block is Elmo Tickle Hands from Fisher-Price. The recommended ages is 18 months to 4 years. Elmo Tickle Hands fit over your own children’s hands. As soon as the hands touch a surface, they begin to vibrate and the kids will hear Elmo’s signature giggle! It also comes with a DVD where the kids will be able to dance to the song, “The Tickle Hand Groove.” This is a toy that encourages hours of creative fun for any toddler or pre-schooler!
Be diligent about looking for it, as it may be hard to come by. Like other items that have been hard to find in the past, you can find them if you are willing to put in the extra efforts.
One of the places that will that will be carrying the Elmo Tickle Hands is Shop.com. The key to obtaining one is to start shopping now as you have some time before Christmas. By being persistent, you may be able to find one somewhere.
The price point on the Elmo Tickle Hands glove is around $29.99 which doesn’t put it out of reach for too many people this Christmas season. For a toy that will be so popular the price isn’t bad at all. Make sure you don’t miss out on the toy of the year! Purchase your Elmo Tickle Hands online at Shop.com today. You can still find it.

Lil Chillers Straw Cups ~ A Review
November 13, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Reviews & Buzz, Veranda Chit Chat, baby boomer, children, family, health, kids, parenting, wahm
When my girls were toddlers and beyond the sippy cup stage (we called them tippy cups,) my husband and I tried to get them to drink from a cup with a straw. If you’re a mom or grandmom of a toddler ~ you might be thinking that’s easier said than done.
Inevitably, my daughters would end up taking the straw out and playing games with it or dropping it all over the table or on the floor.
At some point we found a cup that had a built-in straw in it and that was the answer to our dreams!
My oldest daughter is now 25 and a mom herself. ‘Lil Moomette, my granddaughter who just turned 2 in October, is very proficient using a straw, and has been for quite some time. But alas, the games continue! Grandpa and I have been searching locally for the elusive magic cup with the straw in it, but had been unsuccessful.
To my delight, I was contacted by Jennifer Anderson, a WAHM and owner of Lil’ Chillers to review what I think is the ultimate answer to many a mom of toddlers who are learning to drink from a straw!
Lil Chillers is – The Next Step in Sippy Cup Evolution
Made of unbreakable BPA-free polycarbonate, Lil’ Chillers™ have a non-skid bottom and easy-grip sides for little hands. Lil’ Chillers™ are tip-resistant and designed with a flared straw which prevents children from removing the straw from the cup.
Lil’ Chillers™ are for everyone—smaller children, older children and even adults. They are also great for preschools, daycare and even the elderly who may have trouble drinking from an open-mouth cup.
The website also provides an extensive list of FAQ’s providing information regarding straw drinking for a child who has special needs or receives speech or occupational therapy.
These cute cups are for toddlers 18 months up, and come in six colors.
I think they’d also be great for making smoothies as the straw is large enough for any liquid to pass through!
What I like about Lil’ Chillers cups are that they are top-rack, dishwasher safe. What’s even better is that replacement straws are available if the need arises. The company also has a Return Policy in place.
If you’re a mom, grandmom or aunt and are looking for a terrific cup to keep at home or for gift giving, please visit Lil Chillers to learn more.

Filed under Sponsor, business, career opportunities, e-commerce, internet marketing, wahm, wahm tips, work at home
Now that Holiday Selling Season is getting into full swing, here’s a tip I’d like to pass along to help your sales and get some FREE ADVERTISING. Online Shopping is going to be very popular this year, given the exhorbitant cost of gas, and many people are going to be looking for ways to stretch their hard-earned dollars.
When you go to post, most bump sites require the following:
1. The picture of your Auction or Fixed Price or Store Inventory item that is in your computer.
2. Your title of your auction (just copy and paste the title of your auction that you created in eBay)
a. with the mystery auction site, the last word of your title can be “mystery”
b. when you cut and paste your title from eBay, just delete the last couple of words & type in mystery.
3. The item # of your auction (usually found on the right hand side of your auction)
VOILA! YOU JUST DID FREE ADVERTISING!!!

Filed under Reviews & Buzz, Veranda Chit Chat, children, kids, parenting

My granddaughter, ‘Lil Moomette is going to be turning Two this October ~ I can’t believe how quickly time has flown by ~ it seems like just yesterday that I became a grandmother for the first time.
Actually, my daughter and Charming Son-In-Law have also presented me with a grandson this past August!
‘Lil Moomette is such a hoot, and a smart cookie at that, if I may say so myself (must take after her Grandmother.) Her vocabulary is so advanced and she speaks in 6 and 7- word sentences. Grandmothers can brag, can’t they?
I’m delighted to have the opportunity to review the Sesame Street Cookie Monster Building Set, by K’NEX.
K’Nex Imagine ~ Build ~ Play is the next generation of construction sets. It inspires creativity, builds self-confidence and encourages interaction among children and parents.
The Cookie Monster Building Set Build includes fun stickers and an educational “Play & Learn” activity sheet for parent & child to do together. It also includes a handy storage canister for easy clean-up.
There are 15 pieces, Including Kid K’NEX rods, connectors and blocks, plus specially-designed character hands, eyes and Cookie Monster’s favor food, which of course, is ~ the COOKIE!

Recommended ages are 2 –5. The product retails for approximately $10.99
Together, Gram and ‘Lil Moomette had quite a bit of fun assembling this cute set, and it is definitely age-appropriate. The K’NEX Sesame Street Cookie Monster Building Set will stay at Grandma’s house ~ giving ‘Lil Moomette a special creative, educational toy to play with when she comes over again.
Get one for someone special you love, in time for the holidays at www.kidknex.com
