In Home Spa Treatment: Pamper Yourself

Me Time

Rose Petals Spa Bathtub

Stress isn’t limited strictly to young families and moms with kids at home, believe me.  People have busy lives and are constantly dealing with stress. Whether you’re a WAHM, stay-at-home mom or corporate execute executive, all of us have important tasks to do on a daily basis and we’re always on the move. As long as we get to have a moment to relax and rejuvenate ourselves so we can start each day refreshed, it’s OK.

What can we do to relax and rejuvenate our minds and bodies? Soaking in a tub can do wonders for the mind and body. No time, you might ask?  Well then create the time! After the house is quiet at night, take at least 30-minutes for yourself, because you’re worth it!

There are all kinds of bath products available for you to pamper yourself with and some of my favorites are listed right here on this site that I’ve done product reviews on in the past. If you enjoy taking a bath, there are soaps, bath salts, bath bubbles, sugar scrubs, which come in variety of scents (my personal favorite is Citrus). Soak away your stress with the bath products of your choice – light a candle or two, turn out your bathroom light, have some soft relaxing music in the background, put your head on an orthopedic pillow and you are good to go. Close your eyes and enjoy the wonderful scent, let it take you to wherever you’d like to be. Try not to fall asleep!

Of course if you can afford a day spa on a regular basis, that’s great, but if you’re like me and most busy women I know, the do-it-yourself spa is just as good as the real one. Here are 3 big reasons why:

You can enjoy a luxurious bath from the comfort of your own home. So if you have little kids, there is no need to hire a baby sitter. Tell the kids or spouse it’s “Me Time” and you have all the time you need for your home spa treatment.

It’s affordable!  As much as we’d like, a visit to a day spa is nice, but it’s definitely not cheap.

If you’re not so much a bath person, then turn your shower into what I call “a relaxation staycation”.  A high pressure shower massage head does wonders and acts as a back pain treatment.

No need to make an appointment! You can set up your special bath time whenever you want.

Now that you’re thoroughly rejuvenated, curl up with a neck pain pillow, and read your favorite book or gossip magazine!

Baby Everywhere: A Book and a Bag Review and Giveaway

A Caring Gift

Baby Everywhere A Book and a Bag

Baby Safety

You could call me “Antique Roadshow.” As a grandmom, I often still find myself carrying around a diaper bag for Slugger, who’s going on two.  A diaper bag is one of those essentials most grandmoms or moms would be lost without.

Baby Everywhere LogoI received A Book and A Bag from Baby-Everywhere to try out.
When you want to take an excursion out of your home with a small baby, there’s no telling what you might need. A good diaper bag can hold everything you might need including baby wipes, diapers, diaper ointment, baby powder, clothing, bottles, food, just about anything else you might possibly need while out and about with your baby.

A Book and a Bag is a wide tote that can be used by moms, grandmoms, nanny, daycare providers or babysitters.  Also an organizer, there’s a place for keys, cell phones, wallet as well as baby’s necessities. It includes a Safe Baby Organizer – a 50-page loose-leaf book (4″x7″), containing expert advice on how to prevent injuries and handle an emergency, should one occur, which fits into an outside pocket – available in English or Spanish. Colored tabs divide the sections.

Since the most important item in a diaper bag is diapers, A Book and A Bag also contains a changing pad! In fact, anything that you need to use on a daily basis can go into this tote.   Since all the “stuff” in your diaper bag can make it really heavy so if you’re going to have to be carrying it for a long distance, it has two sturdy handles that you can easily put over your shoulder.

This tote comes in either marine blue, or fire engine red – colors that even dad or grandpa wouldn’t mind carrying around!

  • Recommended by the American Academy of Emergency Medicine
  • iParentingMediaAward.com voted the Safe Baby Tote one of the most outstanding safety products of the year

At Baby-Everywhere, you can find diaper bags and grandmother bags that vary from basic, to trendy …

… beautiful, affordably-priced products that can be used anywhere the baby is – at home, in a car, with the babysitter and at grandma’s home.

Baby-Everywhere is offering readers of Moomette’s Magnificents a $5.00 discount promo code at checkout on these bags.

Get Organized For Back-To-School or Work: Busy Body Book – Personal & Family Organizers – Review and Giveaway

Organize Your Life

Busy Body Book Personal and Family Grid Organizer

Busy Body Book Logo

Personal and Family Grid Organizer

You would think that although my kids are grown, I no longer have to keep track of dance lessons, lacrosse or soccer games, cross-country meets and other school activities.

As chief mom (and grandmom!) around here, there’s still plenty of organizing to do.

I make notes of what days I have to pick up the grandkids from daycare; what day grandmom’s on-call to babysit when the kids go out on those Saturday night date nights; birthdays, anniversaries – you know how it goes!

Sometimes I even manage to fit in some personal time for hair appointments, manicures & pedicures!

Now that I blog , I still have to keep up with all the product review and contest giveaway schedules.

While there are pros and cons to digital organizers, in previous posts here I’ve dicussed under my work-at-home section of this blog the benefits of returning to good old-fashioned pen and paper as a means of keeping myself organized.

Busy Body Book Family Grid Organizer - GrapesI’ve recently had the opportunity to review Busy Body Book planners and organizers which contain a weekly GRID format to make  managing your time is a breeze!

The most efficient solution to every Mom’s scheduling chaos! Each family member, with their own personal column, can plan and track their activities while they organize and coordinate with one another “side by side.”

Busy Body Book Family Organizer - School

This organizer certainly would have come in handy when I was taking the girls to visit colleges during their junior year of high school!

Features that I like include:

  • 2 Monthly Planners
  • Months-at-a-glance -An overview to help plan ahead for the holidays, vacations, or special events.
  • Key contact pages -2 Pages for your emergency contact information, doctors, coaches, babysitters…
  • Removable shopping lists – Perforated pages for creating handy grocery or gift lists.
  • 2 Pockets – Inside front & back covers provide a deep pocket to hold important papers, receipts, coupons…
  • Bookmark – Easily flip to the current week with this unique bookmark that grabs the spiral.
  • Notes – A full page each week for notes, to do’s, lists, or alerts. Plenty of notes pages in back of BBB too to record and keep important information.

Busy Body Book Grid Family OrganizerPlus there’s a sturdy, clear plastic cover to keep it all protected!

Whether your kids are going Back-to-School or you homeschool, or you’re trying to organize and simplify your busy Work-at-Home Mom business, see how this organizer can help you save your sanity!

House of Gems – WAHM Jewelry Making Business – Bejeweled Giveaway

Momfluence

As most of my readers know, I’m a huge supporter of Work-At-Home Moms.

I’ve met many, talented women who,  while staying home with their children, still have a need for a viable source of income to support their families.  As a mom who worked outside of the home, I’m well aware of the cost of daycare.

My one-time next door neighbor, a young mom, was an extremely creative indie designer and had an online e-commerce custom jewelry business on the Internet that she was quite successful at.  Many moms can supplement the family income through cottage industry at-home crafts and hobbies.

If you’re a Baby Boomer or retired and looking to pursue new interests, this might be the perfect opportunity for you to get started!

I’d like to let you know about House of Gems, Inc.

House of Gems Logo

House of Gems, Inc. was established to provide quality beads, pearls, findings, pendants, chains and other jewelry making accessories at wholesale prices, directly to the consumer. The people behind Houseofgems.com have been in this business since 1992 and have an extensive network of designers, manufacturers and other direct suppliers to draw upon.

House of Gems Quality Jewelry Making AccessoriesSince they have their own factories, craft shops and import directly, they have the best prices on quality products. Now, with the power of e-commerce they have eliminated the ‘middle men’, bringing their quality products at low wholesale jewelry prices, directly to your doorstep.

Ten lucky blog readers will have a chance to jump-start your own work at home jewelry business or new hobby!

Contest Details: Have you ever wanted to start your own handmade jewelry store on Etsy or Silkfair, but didn’t know where to start?  Maybe you already enjoy scrapbooking and knitting and thought beading might be worth a try, but weren’t sure about the investment.

Now you can win a bracelet making kit plus $75 in product – a $100 value – by entering the “Bejeweled Giveaway” contest.

Ten readers across the Momfluence network blogs will be chosen to win! But there’s more!  Those ten winners will be able to submit a picture of their completed bracelet to the House of Gems, and one will be chosen to receive a $250 gift certificate, enough product to really jump start your business.

To Enter: Readers must choose one or more ways to enter.

Laundry Mom Shirts and More by LTDchix – Review and Giveaway

Laundry Mom LTDchix Shirt

Living the Dream – Laundry Mom

Back when I was my husband’s “First Wife” I was the chief cook & bottle washer around here.  The kids came along, and like most of my readers, I was in laundry up to my ears!

Over the years, (35, to be exact, today, as a matter of fact!) I’ve become my husband’s “Second Wife” and now everybody around here does their own laundry!  Of course, one daughter is married now, and my youngest is almost launched.  Emphasis on “almost.”

I’m delighted to have the opportunity to review an adorable line of clothing by LTDchix, which stands for  Living the Dream” chix.

LTDchix created the cutest illustrated tops that show a mom laughing at the less than glamorous aspects of raising a household!

Sometimes you just have to have a sense of humor to get through the day!

Two former corporate “suits” traded in their jobs to form LTDchix:

Back in the days when being a Mom was still just a dream for many of us, little did we know about the true realities of motherhood.  We didn’t know that along with the beauty and rewards of watching our children grow, we’d also have to contend with the daily mind-numbing tasks that go along with it!  But we’ve got to keep on smiling and persevere!

LTDchix has ten illustrations with the tagline “Living the Dream.”

LTDchix Living the Dream Laundry ShirtI received the “Laundry Mom” top!  It’s just perfect for casual wear, and certainly gets plenty of looks when I have to run out to the grocery store!  People just usually smile when they see it.  The shirt is 100% cotton, but feels like there’s a little extra “stretch” in it … which is good for me!

Besides Laundry Mom, you can find shirts for Cooking Mom, Mini Van Mom, Referee Mom, Shopping Mom, Working Mom, Workout Mom, Beach Cart Mom, Multi-Tasking Mom!

Shirts are available in short sleeve and long sleeve versions!

We all talk about “changing our hats” when we take on yet another task.  Now, why not just try changing your shirt!

Brighten someone’s  day for a Bridal Shower, Baby Shower, birthday, or “just because.”

For More Information Visit: LTDchix

Frigidaire New Kitchen And Laundry Appliance Collection

frigidaire

At this point in my life as a Baby Boomer, most people think I have all the time in the world to myself.  The kids are grown – I might be retiring – and I am no longer part of the Sandwich Generation.”

Actually, that’s not true.  I still have all the responsibilities of an almost-launched college grad, house, spouse, pet – and now grand-kids.  My plate is full.

I also have a Bucket List of things I’d like to do, and I’ve slowly been leaking the details on all of my blogs.  Travel is one of my top priorities!

How often do you have the time to do something for yourself? If you’re like most moms, the answer is almost never. As Moms, we’re proud of everything we’re able to do for our families, but we think you’ll agree that a little “me time” goes a long way!

I’ve been asked by Mom Select to let you know that luckily, there’s a company out there who understands a mom’s desire to spend less time doing routine housework and more time doing what we love. Frigidaire, the appliance brand known for their legendary reliability, is unveiling 250 new appliances designed with specific time-saving features to give you more time for YOUR time.

When we bought our first house,  my stove, refrigerator and washer and dryer were all made appliances were Frigidaire.  I’ve been in this house for over 30 years, and I can tell you that those appliances were built to last.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that research shows that Moms are logging more overtime than most Americans. In fact, Frigidaire’s recently released “Motherload Index” revealed that moms spend most of their waking lives – 200 hours each month – doing the activities they least enjoy rather than the things they love.

With their new line of appliances, Frigidaire is aiming to free up some new-found “me time” for Moms and they want to know what you’ll do with it!

By visiting Frigidaire.com, you can share the five things that you would do with an extra hour in your day for a chance to win an entire suite of the new time-saving Frigidaire appliances.

What will you do if you had more free “me time?”

The New Frigidaire kitchen and laundry collections feature high-performing, easy-to-use appliances with style and design elements that don’t just look great but help appliances perform better and give you better results.  All products- with their functional design and uncomplicated technology – have been built to deliver one primary thing:  more time for mom.

Womens Health ~ Avoid A Meltdown ~ Develop a Stress Support System

Support System

As I’m working on Product Reviews for my Moomettesgram’s Musings blog, the 6:30 National news is on the television in the background. I overheard how women are now experiencing stress at alarming levels due to the state of the current economy.

Ironically, I was already covering this topic in two previous blog posts here and here.

Moms are a crucial part of the family network. We always joke that if mom gets ill, the family would crumble. That may not be far from the truth. So, mom, who do you turn to in times of stress to keep from crumbling?

A support system is important for busy moms. It’s easy to get weighed down by doctor’s appointments, work deadlines, family obligations, and housework. Hanging across the bed crying your eyes out is usually a sign to activate your stress support system.

A mom’s stress support system consists of her circle of acquaintances, family, friends, and professional associations. Anyone that is willing to stand in the gap for you when you need something becomes a part of the system. In turn, you are a part of that system for someone else.

Start with your family. They are the system’s first line of defense. When mom gets overloaded, family members will notice first. Their radar will go off before anyone else’s. Don’t be afraid to ask your spouse to wash the dishes or help with homework because you need a minute to yourself.

Children are particularly sensitive to changes in the home. Watch for subtle changes in their behavior, or discuss any issues you may have with their teachers.

Your other family members are a part of the system. My sisters-in-law are my best female friends. We can talk and laugh when something is bothering us. We might not come up with a solution but the laughter reduces the stress. It’s nice to be understood and have some ice cream when you’re down.

Professional associations are important to the stress support system, too. If the source of the stress is a legal matter, a lawyer can help you to see your way clear to a solution. If you feel you can’t afford one, legal aid services and other social agencies are available. Check with your local place of worship for assistance. The same goes for a good mechanic, doctor, hairstylist, and educator. It’s amazing how much easier stressful situations are to handle when you have professionals at hand who you can lean on … and trust. Your car breaks down? No problem. Just call your trusty mechanic. Kids have a toothache? No worries ~ your friendly dentist will save the day. Stress comes from the most unlikely places so your support system needs to include as many different sources of help as you can find.

I have also found answers on the Internet on message boards, when I’ve been stressed and needed help. Moms have many websites that cater to them and their special needs as working mom or stay at home mom. You may never meet these other women in person, but a close bond can be formed across the digital highway. Your closest friend could be in cyberspace. I’ve made many wonderful friends on Twitter. There’s nothing wrong with that. Turn to them if you need to talk. You don’t have to go it alone. Need a friend? Follow me on Twitter!

A support system is crucial for stress management. If you don’t have one, start recruiting today. Moms can always use the extra support.
