Kids See the World through “Sprinkle-Vision” at Friendly’s

Restaurant Focuses on Delivering Family Fun at all of its 500+ Locations

As many of my readers know I’m a New England native. As a matter of fact, I’ve lived in the same town in Connecticut virtually all of my life.

From the time I was a kid, the Friendly’s in our town was always the place to go.

As a teenager in high school, my crowd could be found after school or after any activities such as basketball or football games enjoying all of our favorites off the menu ~ burgers, fries and milkshakes. My personal favorites were the Chocolate Fribble and Fishamajig! Friendly’s was the place where many of my friends started their first job! As a new mom, I would take my daughters and mother-in-law along to Friendly’s for lunch. Now as a Baby Boomer Grandmom, Friendly’s is my granddaughter, ‘Lil Moomette’s favorite place to go and get ice cream!

Throughout 2009, excited ice cream-loving kids who visit Friendly’s will be able to search the restaurants for hidden codes to use in an online game to win fantastic prizes and try their luck at taking over the Friendly’s virtual ice cream factory.

Each child guest will receive a pair of Sprinkle-Vision glasses with red lenses that will allow them to view the codes hidden throughout Friendly’s restaurant locations. Kids can write down the codes at the store and when they get home, with the help of parents, visit I Wanna Go To Friendlys to gain access to Friendly’s virtual ice cream factory. Once inside, kids will be challenged to navigate through multiple levels, and play a series of puzzles and games in order to win real-life prizes.

The lucky grand-prize winner will get the chance to participate in an upcoming Friendly’s kids commercial, and will receive free ice cream for a year. Three prize winners will receive a tour of the real Friendly’s ice cream factory, and 27 winners will win free ice cream for a year.

Friendly’s has recently introduced new kids menu items, including Popcorn Chicken, a Vol-Cone-O Sundae and Apple Slices. Each kids meals comes with a choice of beverage, entrée and ice cream dessert.

What’s a party without food? Since it’s almost berry-picking season, here’s the perfect dish to bring for those who have a sweet tooth!

Name: Berry Crumble
Serving Size: 6
Categories: Cobbler/fruit

Ingredients:

3 cups raspberries or blueberries (or 1 package
12 or 16 oz frozen)
2 tbl lemon juice
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
2/3 cup quick cooking oats
1/3 cup margarine or butter, softened
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
whip cream or ice cream

Preparation:

Spread berries in square 8×8 pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix remaining ingredients except cream. Sprinkle over berries. Microwave uncovered on high 7 to 10 min. Let stand 10 min. Serve warm with cream. Or bake 375 30 minutes.
