Harmony
Always safe. Always comfortable. Always affordable.
After having two daughters and now being the proud grandparent of two young toddler grandchildren, I can certainly agree that ‘it takes a village to raise a child.’
Between my daughter, son-in-law, me as well as an aunt and an uncle, we’re always coordinating the transportation of delivery and pick-up from daycare and preschool. Of course, that means someone’s always switching cars, or we’re taking out and reinstalling carseats in order to get the mission accomplished.
I recently was delighted to have the opportunity to review the LiteRider Youth Booster Car Seat from Harmony Juvenile Products, which is the solution to our predicament.
Harmony Juvenile Products provide the highest quality baby products using innovative product designs that meet the most stringent testing standards.
At Harmony, we have exceeded all U.S. FMVSS 213 standards and have tested our products to international front, rear and side-impact standards. We have market tested the products in the European (UK, France and Germany) and Australian high-end carseat markets, and have received awards for having products that are exceptionally safe, comfortable, and easy-to-use.
The LiteRider is a lightweight backless booster car seat with an easy-to-use design. Unlike larger car seats, it’s easy to install, portable and we can switch it from car-to-car if necessary.
Features include:
- Exceeds US FMVSS 213 standards.
- Fits children 30 – 100 lbs.
- Extended weight range ready for new ASTM standard.
- Ultra-plush, durable fabrics made with comfort foam throughout seat for maximum comfort.
- Full-wrap premium seat pad is removable for machine washing.
- Seat-saver design.
- Visually pronounced belt guides promote correct installment of the seat belt.
- Belt path design prevents child from sliding under the lap belt on impact.
- Belt guide included.
- 3-month (limited) warranty.
The LightRider Youth Booster is available in Beige or Pink.
Dimensions: 7.5” x 16” x 17.75”
If you’re looking for an affordable, comfortable, easy-to-use car seat for your own child, or for grandmom, grandpa or babysitter, this would be a wonderful choice this Holiday Season!

Big Eye Dummies – Designer Plush Dolls – Review And Giveaway
Designer Plush Doll
Big Eye Dummies
Most children love animals and ‘Lil Moomette is no exception.
As a matter of fact, it’s ironic that my husband and I had a dog before we had our girls, and ‘Lil Moomette’s parents had a dog and a cat before ‘Lil Moomette was in the picture.
Actually, my husband and I were fur-free for awhile, but we now have a lazy, fat, almost 12-year old house-cat. Whenever the grandkids come over, The Cat will tolerate the kiddos for only so long, and then retreats to someplace yonder.
All dogs are “Mutley,” (even though the poor dog is actually a purebread Black Lab!)
I’ve had the opportunity to review the new line of designer plush dolls aptly named “Big Eye Dummies.” Milton The Cat is now part of our family.
Each doll comes with 2 sets of interchangeable eyes and mouths, along with its own back story. Made of fabric, the eyes and mouths come gently sewn down, but just need to be cut by an adult and the threads removed, at which point the mix ‘n match fun begins!
Big Eye Dummies are designed and created in New York City by David Lipson, a professional Animation Producer and Director. David has worked on TV shows, including Word World (PBS), Lizzie McGuire (Disney Channel), Schoolhouse Rock (Disney), and shorts for Sesame Street (PBS).
Says David: “Big Eye Dummies offer several major innovations to the plush doll market, such as using high quality thread to hold them together instead of staples or nails. Another breakthrough was filling them with fluffy soft stuffing instead of rocks or bricks. Focus testing has shown that these improvements seem to really enhance the ‘cuddle and snuggle’ factor for children.”
Big Eye Dummies have received Creative Child Magazine’s Preferred Choice Award.
Big Eye Dummies have been tested by independent American Laboratories and comply with the European and American Toy Safety Standards.
Another benefit is great creative fun at Grandma’s house, or homeschooling, daycare or pre-school fun!
These plush dolls are just way too cute and cuddly and would make an adorable Birthday or holiday gift, not only for children, but tweens, teens and adults too!
Recommended Ages: 2 and up
Suggested Retail: $19.99
Available at: www.BigEyeDummies.com and specialty toy and gift stores, high-end children’s boutiques, design gift shops, and museum stores.

Play-Doh Spaghetti Factory Playset – Review
June 29, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Product Reviews, Reviews & Buzz, children, family, kids, parenting, toddlers
Play-Doh
Play-Doh Spaghetti Factory
My granddaughter ‘Lil Moomette is at a really cute age where she wants to do everything by herself. “Me Do It.” She loves to help out in the kitchen with my youngest daughter, “Auntie.” Auntie enjoys cooking and baking, and doesn’t blink an eye when Moomette is helping out – whether she’s dough-covered from making pierogis, or cookies!
When I had the opportunity to review the Play-Doh Spaghetti Factory by Hasbro I was so excited!
Play-Doh was even around when I was a kid (now, for a baby boomer, that’s a long time ago) and I remember all the colorful cans, and molding and shaping it into ‘presents’ for my mom! I’d make paper clip holders, pen holders, cookies, and just used my imagination!
Now the kids can get even more creative – the Play-Doh Spaghetti Factory Playset is a Pretend pasta maker where kids can create PLAY-DOH-style pasta and mold into their favorite meatballs, toppings, veggies and more!
The Playset comes with:
- More than 25 half-molds
- Playmat
- Fork and spoon accessories
- 4 three-ounce cans of compound
Recommended for Ages 3 and up.
Notice Parents: Contains Wheat. Non toxic.
A great addition if you homeschool, or for upcoming Birthdays, Grandma’s house, or getting a head-start on your holiday shopping!
Available at Amazon, Walmart and neighborhood stores

Parents ~ Look-At-Me Camera ~ A Review
December 19, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Reviews & Buzz, Veranda Chit Chat, children, family, kids

When I was a young child, I can remember being given a Brownie Instamatic camera as a gift. Color film wasn’t around and all our pictures were in Black & White. I still enjoy looking at family albums and reminiscing.
My brother, who’s 3 years younger than me, took an interest in photography at an early age and went on to pursue a degree in Photojournalism from the prestigious Rochester Institute of Technology.
I’ve visited the George Eastman House in Rochester, New York and marveled at the history and antique equipment depicting how photography has advanced over the years.
Unfortunately, I’m not as talented as my brother is, but I have, over the years, chronicled through photography the daily life and memorable special events of our family.
From the time my oldest daughter was 6 months old up until about age 3, she actually was a professional photography model for a major toy company and appeared on many boxes and promotional catalogues. ‘Lil Moomette takes after her mom ~ anytime she sees a camera, a big smile will cross her face and she’ll say “Cheese!”
I’m please to have the opportunity to review one of Parents Magazine’s newest products in their toy line.
Parents has introduced the Look-at-Me Camera, which represents the ultimate in imaginary play.
The camera is a sleek, “just-like-mom’s” camera that offers endless fun for pint-sized photographers. Recommended for children ages 12 months and up, the Look-At-Me Camera enables toddlers to imitate grownups. Pretending is how little ones make sense of the world around them.
My own personal camera is always at-the-ready, and oftentimes ends up in ‘Lil Moomette’s hands. I do encourage imaginary play ~ but call the line at my (expensive) camera!
The Look-at-Me Camera has a realistic shutter sound and flash that offers endless fun for a pint-sized photographer. There’s a big fish-eye mirrored lens on the front of the camera. There’s also a vogue-inducing disco soundtrack to encourage “mini-models” to say “Cheese.”
All Parents toys are fun, and SAFE ~ 100% phthalate free. There’s still time to pick one up for the holidays, and it will make a unique birthday gift for your favorite little one!
Suggested Retail Price: $15.00
Available at http://parents.com and http://target.com

Retinol Complex Age Defense ~ Skin Medica ~ A Cosmetic Review
December 15, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Reviews & Buzz, Veranda Chit Chat, baby boomer

Holiday and Party season are in full swing mode now, and to many gals, that means an opportunity to get all glammed up.
When I was a teen, (way back when), my friends and I would get together for a night out to party at the local “Y Spot.” There was always a friend who was good doing hair & up-do’s. I was the one that was the make-up & cosmetic go-to gal. I was terrific at doing eye makeup and cosmetics in general. My style (at the time) favored ‘Barbra Streisand’ and Liz Taylor ‘Cleopatra’ eyes.
I had a ritual where I used to use a certain astringent-type product, and almost never had a blemish, which thankfully, continued well into my adult life. Perhaps I was graced with good genes, compliments of my grandmother. My grandmother lived to be 101, and really, didn’t have a wrinkle or crow’s foot on her!
My beauty ritual continues to this day, allthough I’ve lightened up on the amount of makeup I wear except for special occasions. I start the day using a Retinol A face cleanser, followed by a daytime moisturizer. I almost never leave the house without some type of moisturizer on my face. Each evening, I either use a special face cleaner for mature skin to remove my makeup; followed by a Retinol A face cleanser, and a night facial cream as well as an under-eye cream, all containing Vitamin A. I alternate evenings using an exfoliant.
I’m delighted to be able to review a product called Retinol Complex, distributed by Skin Medica.
I received a full size, 1oz (28.35g) pump bottle of Retinol Complex Age Defense. This product enhances skin texture through gentle exfoliation, and is recommended for mature skin. Baby Boomers with aging skin such as myself love this type of beauty regiment!
This intense formula with Vitamin A derivatives and Pro-Retinoic acid enhances skin texture through exfoliation. Key ingredients include Vitamin E, which protects skin from free-radical damage, and Green Tea Extract, which fights bacteria and reduces inflammation.
In order to give an honest review, I prefered to try the product for at least 10 days, and didn’t continue my normal evening routine with my own skin care products (with the exception of the face cleaner.) I used this product on only one side of my face.
Only a small amount of the product is needed. I used one “squirt” on the top of my hand, and applied it to one side of my face (forehead, the area between my eyebrows known as the “elevens”, my nose, face, chin and half of my neck area.)
When I awoke in the morning, after rubbing the side of my face where I used Retinol Complex, I actually did notice that my face felt smoother, softer, and looked a bit plumper, while any fine lines and whatever wrinkles I had looked filled in.
I ‘m happy to let you know that SkinCare RX is offering a coupon for readers of Moomettesgram’s Musings.

Baby Einstein’s 10th Anniversary ~ A Review
December 11, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Reviews & Buzz, Veranda Chit Chat, children, e-commerce, family, kids, parenting, sahm

Every day of the year is special when Moms spend quality time with their young children, but the Holiday Season is especially magical. If you’re looking for a great gift for a new mom, shower present for a mom-to-be, or your own children or grandchildren, then read on!
When ‘Lil Moomette, who’s now 2, was born, one of the first gifts my husband and I gave as new grandparents was a Baby Einstein DVD. Our oldest daughter grew up watching what we considered at the time, to be ‘educational and instructional’ television shows. As young parents at the time, we considered ourselves to be pretty forward thinking.
I’m pleased to be able to review a new and interactive product from Baby Einstein. The package includes the 10th anniversary special edition Baby Mozart™ DVD, the Baby Einstein Touch and Feel Baby Animals board book and the Lullaby Classics CD that includes a compilation of classical Baby Einstein soothing sounds, ensuring that the family time spent with young babies and children this holiday season will be a more engaging experience.
Baby Einstein Board Book ~ Baby Einstein Touch and Feel Farm Animals Book
Recommended for babies 9 months and up, this is a fun Touch-and-Feel Book which includes a sheep; cow; goat; rooster and horse.
Lullaby Classics CD
The Baby Einstein Music Box Orchestra includes 17 selections, and is considered a “Concert for Little Ears,” featuring soothing clasical melodies specially selected to quiet and calm little ones as they drift off to sleep.
I’ve posted in the past, that my youngest daughter (now 21) always drifted off to sleep with a tape deck, and pursued her interest in dance well into high school and college.
10th Anniversary Baby Mozart DVD
Baby Einstein has been voted by Moms as the #1 selling infant DVD line that they can’t live without! The Baby Mozart DVD is recommended for infants 3 months and up. A favorite selection includes, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”
Here’s some tips from the company for enjoying Baby Einstein together with your children:
Talk! Talk! Talk!
From the moment we say that first hello to our new baby, we begin developing our little one’s language. So, when you’re watching a Baby Einstein DVD, you don’t have to be quiet. This is a chance to create little stories.
For example, if you see mechanical toys on the DVD, describe the action to your baby—“see the seals go UP the ladder. Now they’re sliding DOWN and around– very fast.” If your baby starts “talking” back to your sounds, praise, cuddle, and imitate your baby to keep the conversation going. Even if you feel self-conscious about talking to a 6 month old, just stay the course. Your baby is probably listening and may show you with a smile, nod, or squeal, the many different ways they understand your language.
Without exception, one of the most significant moments of discovery for any mom, is the day she realizes her baby truly recognizes her and wants her above all others. That bond, the super-glue of parent child attachment, is the foundation for baby’s healthy development. At Baby Einstein, each DVD is designed to reinforce parent-child interaction by providing visually interesting, entertaining content that you and your baby can watch together. Whether the theme is art, music, or barnyard animals, each DVD offers an opportunity to cuddle, share, talk, or sing along with your baby. The DVD can also be a jumping off point for more parent child interaction during your everyday routine.
From the Video Theme to the Real World Scene
Whenever there is an opportunity to link what you have seen on the DVD to other experiences in baby’s life, make that connection. For example, if you watched a DVD about animals, you might say, “Oh, look. There’s a BIG fish on the screen. Do we have another fish in our house?” And off you go to look at your gold fish. This kind of activity shows baby that something we see in one place can be seen in other places too.

I wrote this fascinating product review on Acai Berry Juice recently:
I’m delighted to be invited and post my first review for Frugal WAHMs Product Reviews. When I first married, I probably didn’t weigh 100 lbs. soaking wet. Fast forward 30+ years and 2 children later. Now that I’m a Baby Boomer and not as active athletically as I formerly was, my weight has … crept up on me.Dec 2008
