Baby Everywhere: A Book and a Bag Review and Giveaway
A Caring Gift

Baby Safety
You could call me “Antique Roadshow.” As a grandmom, I often still find myself carrying around a diaper bag for Slugger, who’s going on two. A diaper bag is one of those essentials most grandmoms or moms would be lost without.
I received A Book and A Bag from Baby-Everywhere to try out.
When you want to take an excursion out of your home with a small baby, there’s no telling what you might need. A good diaper bag can hold everything you might need including baby wipes, diapers, diaper ointment, baby powder, clothing, bottles, food, just about anything else you might possibly need while out and about with your baby.
A Book and a Bag is a wide tote that can be used by moms, grandmoms, nanny, daycare providers or babysitters. Also an organizer, there’s a place for keys, cell phones, wallet as well as baby’s necessities. It includes a Safe Baby Organizer – a 50-page loose-leaf book (4″x7″), containing expert advice on how to prevent injuries and handle an emergency, should one occur, which fits into an outside pocket – available in English or Spanish. Colored tabs divide the sections.
Since the most important item in a diaper bag is diapers, A Book and A Bag also contains a changing pad! In fact, anything that you need to use on a daily basis can go into this tote. Since all the “stuff” in your diaper bag can make it really heavy so if you’re going to have to be carrying it for a long distance, it has two sturdy handles that you can easily put over your shoulder.
This tote comes in either marine blue, or fire engine red – colors that even dad or grandpa wouldn’t mind carrying around!
- Recommended by the American Academy of Emergency Medicine
- iParentingMediaAward.com voted the Safe Baby Tote one of the most outstanding safety products of the year
At Baby-Everywhere, you can find diaper bags and grandmother bags that vary from basic, to trendy …
… beautiful, affordably-priced products that can be used anywhere the baby is – at home, in a car, with the babysitter and at grandma’s home.
Baby-Everywhere is offering readers of Moomette’s Magnificents a $5.00 discount promo code at checkout on these bags.

Germguardian UV-C Mini Sanitizer Wand – Review and Giveaway
A Healthy Home
Safe and Natural
I have a sign in my house that says “Our Home is Clean Enough to be Happy and Dirty Enough to Be Happy.”
Actually, this saying may be a bit outdated, since I’ve been married for over 35 years, and times have changed. There’s so many Super-Bugs and diseases around now that we hadn’t even heard of in the 1970s, which are antibiotic resistant.
I’ve recently been asked to review the Germguardian UV-C Mini Sanitizer Wand.
The Germguardian is a product that promotes a healthy and natural way to sanitize your home without using harsh chemicals. It states the sanitizer wand kills up to 99% of bacteria and viruses, and also fights odors and reduces allergens like mold spores and dust mights.
Science was never my strong subject, but Ultraviolet light is used in hospitals to sanitize surfaces and kill germs.
The sanitizer takes 4 AA batteries. I inserted the batteries and had a difficult time trying to put the top back on. I held the button for the recommended 3 seconds, which turned the sanitzer on.
I ran it over my kitchen table and countertops. I can’t say with any certainty that it actually did anything, because everything looked the same to me.
The product comes with a black drawstring carrying case, which is good for business travelers.
I’ve been reading that many cities and hotels are experiencing infestations of bed bugs – so this might be a good idea for travelers to take with them and use on pillows and bedding after a visual inspection of the room.
The sanitizer is chemical-free, and recommended uses include:
- toilets
- phones
- computers
- sinks
- countertops
- bedding
- pillows
- shoes
Dimensions: 10.3″ L x 1.5″ w x 1.6″ h
MSRP: $79.99
Instruction Book Included

Toilet Training in Your Future? Ferdinand Uses the Potty – Book Review
January 23, 2010 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Product Reviews, Reviews & Buzz, books, children, education, family, grandparenting, kids, leisure, lifestyle, parenting, shopping, toddlers
Make Potty Training Fun
An Empowering Toilet Training Tale
My grandson, Slugger, is my second grandchild. He’s 17 months old and tries to keep up with his older sister, ‘Lil Moomette who is 3.
As with any second child, Slugger inherited quite a few of his sister’s toys and books, which he enjoys – most of the time.
When I had an opportunity to review Ferdinand uses the Potty, I was delighted. I think this is just the right book for him to get introduced to potty training.
Most of my readers know I have two grown daughters, and of course, ‘Lil Moomette. Helping to potty train Slugger will send me into unexplored territory – I don’t have the faintest idea how to potty train a boy.
Fortunately, a short interview with the author, Jay Tucker, explains why this book is a must-have for parents (and grandparents alike!):
Our journey with our son inspired me to write a potty training book called, “Ferdinand Uses the Potty.” The story is about a young frog named Ferdinand who wakes up one morning in a wet bed. He has no idea what caused it, but fortunately, he has a supportive friend who has been there before to offer him encouragement and advice. “Ferdinand Uses the Potty,” is written in rhyme so that children and adults will enjoy one of life’s earliest lessons. The book is illustrated by award winning artist, D.E. West.
The book, part of the Growing With Love Series, is colorful and beautifully illustrated.
Other books from the series include:
- Billy Had to Move
- The “O, My” in Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy – How to Prepare Your Child for Surgery
Put this delightful, humorous book on your list of “must reads” or as a gift for any mom-to-be, daughter, daughter-in-law, daycare provider, homeschooling mom or friend who will be going through the challenge of potty training in the future!

Childrens Classics
New Release from Disney
My daughters grew up reading and watching all the classic Walt Disney movies, and among their favorites was Winnie the Pooh. We still have one of their original dolls!
As my charming son-in-law is originally from Vermont, my daughter and grandchildren travel up there often to visit his parents. For Christmas this year, Santa brought a DVD player for the car so that ‘Lil Moomette who’s 3, and Slugger, who’s 17 months, can stay entertained.
I recently had the opportunity to review the DVD, Winnie the Pooh: A Valentine For You. This is a Special Edition that was released by Walt Disney on January 5, 2010.
This is such an enchanting video – the animation characters and colorful scenes will hold everyone’s attention! it’s definitely an totally enjoyable movie that can be watched by the whole family.
Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Rabbit are a tad upset when they find that Christopher Robbin has been bitten by the magical “Smitten,” (which is released from a bottle in the form of a glowing light) and becomes lovesick. The story progresses along with delightful songs explaining the difference in girls and boys; and what happens when the Love Bug bites.
This special release came with Pooh-themed Valentine cards inside, and includes three Winnie the Pooh stories.
If you’re looking for a special Valentine’s Day gift for your children or grandchildren, this DVD is a delightful classic that they will want to see over and over again!
Sound: Dolby Digital Surround Sound
Language: English, Spanish, French

Elephantito: Classic Trendy Children’s Clothing and Shoes
December 26, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

A Modern Approach to Classics
Luxury Boutique Clothing for Kids
When my girls were younger, I always preferred classic, yet trendy fashion styles for them. Quite often they were dressed in hand-smocked, Polly Flinders dresses. My husband and I also believed in choosing quality well-made shoes to support their tiny feet. That probably stemmed from the fact that when I was single I worked in the big city. My lunch hour was spent trying on my favorite Ferragamo shoes at one of Hartford’s finest department stores at the time.
Recently I was sent the most beautiful pair of classic red leather Mary Jane shoes from Elephantito in size 2. As ‘Lil Moomette is 3 years old now, they were too small for her to try on.
Elephantito is a luxury line of clothes and shoes for babies and children up to 8 years old. They offer fashions for both girls and boys.
Elephantito appeals to buyers looking for quality and comfort for their children and gorgeous gifts for stylish moms-to-be. Founded by Maria Frallicciardi in 2004, ELEPHANTITO has successfully established itself as a luxury brand with impeccable style, outstanding craftsmanship and unrivalled customer service.
Besides shoes, Elephantito offers a magnificent line of fashionable clothing for toddlers, including smocked dresses much like those I would dress my daughters in!
If you’re looking for classic clothing for your daughters or granddaughters for special occasions or Easter that won’t go out of style, be sure to visit Elephantito.

Homedics Restore Clean Water Purification System – Review
November 11, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Product Reviews, Reviews & Buzz, baby boomer, children, cooking, family, health, lifestyle, parenting
Taste the Clean
Easy to Use Pitcher
I live in a metropolitan suburb, and our water is supposed to be really highly rated. However, last summer an announcement was made and the towns receiving water from a certain reservoir were told that there were some microbes in it, and that all residents were to boil their water for cooking purposes.
I recently had the opportunity to review the Restore Clean Water System by Homedics.
Drinking enough water is important in order to stay healthy, and is recommended by many weight-loss plans. As moms, we must assure that our family drinks enough liquid each day, and that’s not always an easy thing for us to do. Homedic’s new Restore Water Purification System is a simple way for those you love to get their recommended eight glasses of water in each day.
Restore is a new state-of-the art and innovative in-home water purification system that combines filtration and UV Clean Technology.
Now, when I was in high school, science, chemistry and biology weren’t my best subjects. Although I did pass these subjects the first time around, I still have issues with understanding how it all comes together.
You may not be aware, but just because water is filtered, doesn’t means it’s purified!
Restore uses Ultraviolet (UV) Clean Technology to go beyond filtering by removing:
- 99.9999% of Bacteria
- 99.99 of Viruses
- 99.95% of Microbial Cysts
It also reduces heavy metals, chlorine taste and odor, as well as some industrial and agricultural pollutants.
Morning coffee tastes so much better without an after-taste when the water is filtered!
Restore is California certified for microbiological water purification, a first for a water pitcher utilizing UV technology and is Gold Seal Certified to National Sanitation Foundation standards by the Water Quality Association. UV Technology has been used for over 60 years for its germicidal properties in hospitals and laboratories. For the first time, an application of this unique germ-killing technology is available for home use in an affordable, easy to use water pitcher.
You can learn more about how Restore works by watching this video:
The system comes with:
- 8-cup capacity pitcher with built-in UV lamp (BPH-free)
- 1 replacement carbon-ion filter and also an automatic filter-alert that let’s you know when it’s time to change your filter
- 1 power adapter

Care for your Skin With Southern Magnolia Minerals – Review and Giveaway
November 5, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under baby boomer, beauty, children, giveaways, health, lifestyle, womens health
Aromatherapy

Hand and Body Care
The older we get, the more our skin starts to show its age. However, there are ways to combat this. If you’re willing to take a few healthy lifestyle steps now, you’ll look a lot better when you get older. Let’s take a look at some of the things we can do to prevent our skin from sagging and looking unhealthy as we get older.
We need to keep in mind that aging is a normal process, and that skin will sag to some degree as we get older. This is because it loses elasticity over time, and gravity begins to take its toll. The areas around the eyes and mouth begin to develop deeper lines, and over time the entire face can begin to sag. More blemishes are also a common experience for many people as they get older. This can cause many people to resort to cosmetic surgery, creams, as well as trying other types of methods to try to get rid of the appearance of age. Some of these methods work and some don’t, but it’s better to prevent the problem in the first place.
Look for natural moisturizing methods when you can. Something as simple as vitamin E oil or coconut oil can be just as effective as expensive moisturizing products. Avoid excessive use of cosmetics which contain all kinds of ingredients that can eventually cause problems with your skin. To stay looking fresh and natural, it’s a good idea to spend as much time that way as you can. That doesn’t mean you have to go without makeup entirely, of course. Just take the time to learn about cosmetic ingredients on your own, and know what you’re putting on your skin.
I recently had the opportunity to try All Natural Organic Anti-Aging Green Tea Aloe Lotion, as well as Women’s Aromatherapy Hormone Balance Synergy Body Spray by Southern Magnolia Minerals.
The All Natural Organic Anti-Aging Green Tea Aloe Lotion is available in a 4 fl oz in a treatment pump. I use it right after the shower as well as throughout the day in order to retain moisture. It has a very light, pleasant Green Tea fragrance. I especially like that it also contains Aloe.
It’s nice to give yourself some at-home spa treatment on occasion! After all, even as a Baby Boomer, it seems I’m still on-call it seems to helping my family out, even though they’re launched!
At night, I like to apply the New Women’s Aromatherapy Hormone Balance Synergy Body Spray. It comes in a 10 ml spray bottle with overcap. The scents of Jasmine, Rose, and Neroli are just a few of the essential oils in this balancing spray that trigger the brain to help activate positive changes to emotional well being and transform the female cycle and moods of any AND every age group of women.
Southern Magnolia Mineral Makeup products contains NO oils, perfumes, dyes, talc, bismuth so they are gentle and non-irritating even for sensitive skin. Its like no other makeup on earth! You can spend more money, but you can’t get better makeup than Southern Magnolia Minerals.
By paying attention to these factors and your overall health, you’ll be sure that you’ll look your best, even as you get older. No matter who you are or what your age may be, by keeping yourself in good health and away from environmental factors that accelerate aging, you’ll be taking steps that will help you look better.
Why resort to gimmicks, when simple healthy living and a few quality skin care products are all you really need to look younger, longer?
This holiday season, put products from Southern Magnolia Minerals on your Wish List for yourself, or someone you care about!

Fancy Friendship Bracelets from Klutz – Review and Giveaway

Arts and Crafts

Jewelry Making
When I was a youngster, I didn’t attend fancy day camps in the summer when school was out. The Park and Recreation Department in my town would hold activities at each of the local parks all day long. Along with my friends, I’d show up in the morning; go home for lunch and; walk back for the afternoon activities.
One of my favorite activities was arts and crafts. For a small fee, perhaps it was 5 or 10 cents, we’d get to make a project. One of my favorite projects were the bracelets made out of colored cord.
I recently had the opportunity to review a newly released book from Klutz featuring the Fancy Friendship Bracelets, written by Anne Akers Johnson.
Klutz started with super-simple instructions for a flock of all-new bracelet designs which includes five different colors of cord.
Features Include:
- 6 stylish charms
- 40 yards of cord
- More than 200 beads
Recommended for ages 8+, the book includes instructions to make 10 different fancy friendship bracelets.
Klutz was started in 1977 by three unconventional friends from Stanford University. In 2002, Scholastic Inc., the largest children’s book publisher and distributor in the world, acquired Klutz.
…how-to books from Klutz come packaged with the tools of their trade (from juggling cubes to face paints to yo-yos), and are designed for doing, not just reading.
Klutz also offers Bead Loom Bracelets, Spool Knit Jewelry, Shrink Art Jewelry as well games, puzzles, art, drawing and extra supplies.
For a MSRP of $19.95, this is a cute, entertaining and educational book to put on your Christmas holiday shopping list for any pre-teen or tween!
