Market Your Brand

One of the most common ways of introducing yourself to new clients is by distributing a business card.
Those who attend blogging or marketing conferences probably have received many such cards. Even moms with children in daycare, preschool or playgroups hand out mommy cards!
My husband owns his own business and one of the ways he markets and rewards his customers is by distributing custom-printed t-shirts, caps and sweatshirts.
I have all my business cards printed at Vistaprint, and was delighted to find out that they now offer Custom-Printed T-Shirts for women!
What a fabulous way to market your brand and blog at conferences such as BlogHer10, tweet-ups or affiliate marketing conferences!
I received three custom printed ladies T-Shirts: a long sleeved one and two short-sleeved shirts.
Here I am wearing the long-sleeved version with my Moomette’s Magnificents logo. (Cosmetic makeup and hair products were also previous reviews!)
Although my blogs may be very familiar to readers in the blogosphere, now I have a way to show off my Moomettesgram’s Favorite Recipes and Moomette’s Magnificents logos when I go to the grocery store, and possibly an opportunity to then hand out my business card!
All T-Shirts are:
- 100% preshrunk cotton T-Shirt
- Easy to design and order
- Available sizes are: S, M, L, XL and XXL
If you’re going to be in a bridal shower this wedding season, have some made up for the bridesmaids in the wedding party, or as a gift for the bride-to-be for her bachelorette party!

Baby Bunch-Gifts for Mom and Baby: Giveaway
Practical Bouquets

Say It With Baby Bunch Flowers
As a Baby Boomer, I’ve been to many baby showers in my lifetime. Just as each pregnancy and baby are unique, so are the showers I’ve attended.
Some baby showers are simple affairs – held at home, with just a few munchies out on the table. Over the years, showers have become more elaborate, some are brunches and luncheons held at the mom-to-be’s favorite restaurant.
When I put together the baby shower for my daughter when she was expecting ‘Lil Moomette, I held a luncheon, and made all the centerpieces out of baby bottles. You can find the directions on my sidebar.
Recently I had the opportunity to let you know about the Baby Bunch. I wish I had known about this when ‘Lil Moomette was on the way! It’s not only functional, but would have made a beautiful table centerpiece!
Baby Bunch, which has been featured on Martha Stewart, offers refreshingly different baby gift baskets, presented as bouquets, cupcakes and candy. Because they’re made of baby clothes, the gifts are not only practical, but they’re also beautiful! The baby clothes are arranged into “baby bouquets”, “crayon boxes”, “lollipops” or “cupcakes.”
The company was started by Bryony and Simon Boxer after the birth of the first son:
“The Baby Bunch combines practicality with presentation,” says Bryony Boxer, founder of The Baby Bunch along with her husband Simon Martin. “We wanted to create a gift that was attractive yet useful and offers everything a baby needs to get the best possible start in life.”
I received the Classic medium Baby Bunch, which was presented in a floral gift box with clear lid. The presentation is so pretty! The clothing items are all wrapped tightly, to look like flower buds. Encircling the clothing are green fabric leaves and rosebuds, which can later be saved in a baby book or as keepsake treasures of the occasion!
Inside each “Baby Bunch” are:
- 2 Onesies
- Hat
- T-shirt
- Bib
- 2 Pair Socks
All of the clothing is soft, 100% cotton, and is sized from 0-6 months, up to 16 lbs. Organic clothing is offered in sizes 6-12 months.
Spring is just around the corner, and there will be plenty of new babies being born! You’ll find gifts for Mom or Grandmom, as well as unisex gifts, girl gifts and boy gifts. There’s Free Shipping (twins)! When you order two large buckets!
Baby Bunch is offering email subscribers of Moomette’s Magnificents a 15% discount on any of their products, excluding the cost of shipping through the end of March, 2010. Please contact me for the Promo Code which I will send to you after you become an email subscriber.

Look Your Best At the Beach – Are You Bikini Ready?
January 31, 2010 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Promotions, beauty, fashion, health, leisure, lifestyle, shopping, travel
Because Your Worth It

We wait all year for vacation season and summer. Great weather, lots of sunshine, shorts, tank tops, bathing suits, and for those brave souls out there, bikinis. No matter which summer attire suits your fancy, you’ll definitely want to look your best. Here’s how to put it all together and be bikini ready for that upcoming cruise.
Last year about this time, my youngest daughter was in her senior year at college and planning a cruise to the Caribbean during Spring Break. I actually did a post here of all the text messages I received from the “Little Mermaid” and you could say I traveled ‘vicariously.’
Whether your planning a spring break road trip, honeymoon or family trip to Disney, you’ll no doubt want to shop for some new funky new beach wear for poolside, walks around the promenade deck, or on those tropical island beaches. Your choice of a new bathing suit is no longer limited to the basic one-piece or bikini. There’s a huge variety of new styles, one of which will be perfect for you. I recently bought a tankini, to try to hide a flabby stomach. If the tops of your legs aren’t your best feature, go for a mini swim skirt to go with your bikini. To get rid of any unsightly body hair, try using hair removal wax strips.
Once you’ve found the perfect suit, you’ll also want to look for some accessories to accentuate it. There are many different types of swimwear cover-ups. A cover-up is a good way to protect your skin from over-exposure to the sun. Just about anything goes when it comes to cover-ups. From an over-sized t-shirt to a lacy beach robe, you’re sure to find one that fits your taste and goes well with your suit. One very popular type of cover up, for those just wanting to cover the bottom half of the body, is a sarong. It so reminds me of “South Pacific!”
Hats are a pretty yet practical accessory. Wearing a hat helps to protect your face, neck and shoulders from the damaging rays of the sun. You’ve spent all that time with facials and facial hair removal, so it’s a bonus if your hat just happens to perfectly coordinate with your cover-up and suit. Even though in reality your hat will shade your eyes, sunglasses are another absolute necessity. Fashionably dark is better, and be sure they have a good level of UV blocking for maximum eye protection.
The importance of shielding yourself from the sun makes sunscreen one of your most important accessories. Apply liberally and thoroughly and re-apply periodically throughout the day.
Many beach lovers like to get a head start on their tanning by visiting a tanning studio before heading to the beach. A better idea might be to use one of the self-tanning products that are available on the market today. A base tan helps avoid painful sunburn and because you already look tanned, you’ll probably be more willing to use a more protective sunscreen and avoid getting too much sun.
Before you hit the beach, you’ll want to give your feet a little extra attention too. After all, they’ve been hidden away and maybe even neglected for months. If you spring for a pedicure your feet will be very grateful and look great too. At the minimum, massage some cooling foot lotion into your heels and cuticles, and don’t forget hair removal to get rid of any pesky hair on your tootsies! This will go a long way toward making your feet ready for that new shade of nail polish.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your towel and beach bag, put on those cute sandals along with that pretty cover-up over your bikini and head out to the beach looking fab-u-lous, dahling!

Toilet Training in Your Future? Ferdinand Uses the Potty – Book Review
January 23, 2010 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Product Reviews, Reviews & Buzz, books, children, education, family, grandparenting, kids, leisure, lifestyle, parenting, shopping, toddlers
Make Potty Training Fun
An Empowering Toilet Training Tale
My grandson, Slugger, is my second grandchild. He’s 17 months old and tries to keep up with his older sister, ‘Lil Moomette who is 3.
As with any second child, Slugger inherited quite a few of his sister’s toys and books, which he enjoys – most of the time.
When I had an opportunity to review Ferdinand uses the Potty, I was delighted. I think this is just the right book for him to get introduced to potty training.
Most of my readers know I have two grown daughters, and of course, ‘Lil Moomette. Helping to potty train Slugger will send me into unexplored territory – I don’t have the faintest idea how to potty train a boy.
Fortunately, a short interview with the author, Jay Tucker, explains why this book is a must-have for parents (and grandparents alike!):
Our journey with our son inspired me to write a potty training book called, “Ferdinand Uses the Potty.” The story is about a young frog named Ferdinand who wakes up one morning in a wet bed. He has no idea what caused it, but fortunately, he has a supportive friend who has been there before to offer him encouragement and advice. “Ferdinand Uses the Potty,” is written in rhyme so that children and adults will enjoy one of life’s earliest lessons. The book is illustrated by award winning artist, D.E. West.
The book, part of the Growing With Love Series, is colorful and beautifully illustrated.
Other books from the series include:
- Billy Had to Move
- The “O, My” in Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy – How to Prepare Your Child for Surgery
Put this delightful, humorous book on your list of “must reads” or as a gift for any mom-to-be, daughter, daughter-in-law, daycare provider, homeschooling mom or friend who will be going through the challenge of potty training in the future!

Sugar Scrubs and More: Sweetly You – Review
January 16, 2010 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Product Reviews, Reviews & Buzz, beauty, health, leisure, lifestyle, shopping
Everything Nice
Ultimate Spa Treatment
I live in New England, and in winter, our furnace is constantly going. We have gas, forced hot-air heat, which is really drying to your skin.
As much as I say I’m going to try, I don’t seem to be able to get to a spa for a pedicure, massage or facial. Thus, I’m left to my own devices. Keeping my skin moisturized is a constant battle, especially now that I’m a Baby Boomer.
Recently I had the opportunity to try some fantastic sugar scrubs from Sweetly You.
After using these scrubs several times in the shower, I feel like a new woman!
Kari and Justin Hoopes, the founders of Sweetly You, live in Cache Valley, Utah and have two toddlers ages 2 and 4.
Sweetly You offers an Essential Sugar Scrub that uses the natural power of Avocado Oil, Bees Wax, JoJoba Beads and raw cane sugar to leave rough, flaky skin touchably soft! Perfect to use during the harsh winter months. A great companion to our luxurious Foaming Bath Butter. Buff some life into your tired skin today!
I tried the Coconut Lime Verbena Essential Sugar Scrub, and matching Premium Body Lotion. I also tried the Hawaiian Breeze Essential Sugar Scrub. Talk about aromatherapy!
After locking myself in the shower for a respite, I used a loofah sponge and slathered on the sugar scrub. Since I wear socks quite frequently (have to keep my tootsies warm!) sometimes it causes my skin to flake around the ankles and leg area.
This sweet-smelling sugar scrub exfoliated all that flaky skin away, and I applied the lotion on over moist skin afterwards!
Sweetly You has Scented Bath and Body products like Premium Lotion, Foaming Bath Butter, Sugar Scrub, Solid Perfume, and Dead Sea Bath Salts. Their unique Scents include Signature scents that are quite similar to those of Bath & Body Works, Victoria®s Secret any other divine scents you can imagine! You can also custom design your own bath and body gift packages.
Sweetly You’s shipping department goals are to keep shipping costs as low as possible for the customer.
Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day is coming up soon – or pick up a gift package for a Mom-to-Be!

How To Keep Your Refrigerator Tidy
January 9, 2010 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

Kitchen Tips

A Clean Home is a Happy Home
Since winter’s now setting in, if you’re like me, I intend to spend quite a bit of time in my kitchen cooking up a storm on those day’s when we have a Nor’easter coming our way!
If you’ve been putting off looking for new appliances, the post-holidays are a great time to look for some shopping deals. I could stand a larger refrigerator, and it would give me more room to store groceries and save trips to the store in inclement weather!
Take some time to review some of the basic steps that will help your appliance stay fresh and clear.
One of the first things that you have to remember to do is to keep your refrigerator and freezer clean and presentable. Not only does your refrigerator and freezer keep your food cold, but it also helps you organize your foodstuffs as well.
1. Buy a box of baking soda
A single box of baking soda will last you for about three months, and you’ll find that there’s no end to the uses you can have for it. Simply leaving the box open in your refrigerator can help kill odors and you’ll find that by making a paste of baking soda and water, you can scrub most stains and most smells out. Do keep in mind that the box might need to be replaced if the cardboard itself is absorbing the odors.
2. Take your vegetables out of the plastic bags
It’s an interesting fact that vegetables will brown and wilt a lot faster if they stay in the plastic bags. Take them out and put them into the clean crisper bins. You’ll find that this keeps them green a lot longer. If you are someone who won’t eat your vegetables unless they’re right in front of your eyes, leave them out if it will help you eat them before you go bad.
3. Regularly check your condiments
Next to vegetables, condiments can also turn without your noticing, sometimes, just when you need them for some cooking. A routine check of the back shelves of your refrigerator will stop you from getting any nasty surprises when you reach for the mayonnaise or cream cheese.
4. Eternal vigilance
Make sure that the minute that you notice a spill or a stain that you tackle it. Because the refrigerator can take things out of site simply by closing the door, it’s also possible that the mess will remain out of mind. Make sure that to clean thoroughly, you’ll remove the drawers and the bins, because this is where bacteria and stains that never get out can occur. To mitigate this, keep your food in closed containers; foodstuffs in open containers can get shoved to the back and be forgotten until someone upsets them.
5. Routine maintenance
Perform at least a perfunctory cleansing with a clean damp towel at least every week, but remember that your refrigerator needs to be thoroughly cleaned- everything removed, washed with soap or vinegar, rinsed and dried- at least every two to three weeks. This prevents grime from building up. Don’t neglect the outside or the handles as this is a popular breeding place for germs.
Follow these easy tips after you compare shopping prices to keep your investment in tip-top shape!

Furniture and Feng Shui In The Kitchen
December 30, 2009 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Promotions, family, kids, leisure, lifestyle, shopping
This Old House
Practical Style
In New England, you’ll find all types of homes – colonials dating back to the 1700’s, cape-cod style homes, garrison colonials, split levels, ranches, and yes, McMansions.
My house is an older colonial, and I like to refer to it as my “doll house.” The rooms aren’t large, and when shopping for furniture I have to looks for pieces that are scaled down to a smaller size. It’s almost impossible for me to shop at some of the big box furniture stores for solid wood furniture because the pieces are so large.
Many people like to practice the art of Feng Shui.
The kitchen is the most important area of your home. It’s responsible for nourishing your entire family and keeping everyone happy and healthy. In feng shui, the kitchen is a symbol of wealth and abundance also. In some cases, it also serves as a work-at-home mom’s home office.
The optimal place for your kitchen is the center of your home. If the kitchen is located near the front or back door, the positive energy can escape.
Food gives us all of our energy and enables us to remain healthy. To keep this food energy positive and healing, the food has to be cooked in an organized kitchen that maintains a good balance of Chi. By having a well balanced and energized kitchen, the cook becomes more energized and the entire family benefits.
The best tips for the kitchen are pretty basic and should go hand in hand with the rest of your home very easily. Lighting is an important part of feng shui and in the kitchen, there should be an abundance of natural light if available and if not, full spectrum lighting is recommended. The air should flow nicely and the kitchen should give off a very welcoming energy.
A great way to add positive energy to your kitchen is by using plants and flowers. When placed on your kitchen table or jelly cabinet, they’re not only beautiful to look at but increase the positive energy level greatly. You should use plants and flowers that are yellowish in color because in feng shui, yellow is a great digestive aid.
Like the rest of the house, clutter should be kept as minimal as possible. Since this is the very heart of the home, keep it as happy and warm as possible.
You can find some beautiful pieces of furniture to practice the art of Feng Shui at Manchester Wood.
They design and produce quality, affordable, eco-friendly solid wood. Their solid wood furniture selection include desks, media stands, shelving units & more. Plus, there’s FREE Shipping On All Orders!
