What Kind of Snow Bunny Are You?

After the blizzard the Mid-Atlantic states and Washington D.C. experienced this week, we in Connecticut were lucky we missed it.
But our turn in New England is coming on Wednesday!
How do you handle snow? Does your inner-child come out? Maybe you always dreamed of participating in the Winter Olympics! Do you rush off to go skiing, snowboarding, skating or sledding? Do you hunker down inside, or maybe go on a cruise or fly south like the snowbirds from up North do?
I just took this little test – and if you read through my posts and 101 Random Things About Me – you’ll see it’s right on the mark! Look for me inside the Ski Lodge!
You Are a Snow Kitten |
![]() You like snow in small doses. You find snow to be comforting, and you love to snuggle up under a blanket of snow. You’re not a big fan of the hassles of snow. You’re happy to see it come, but you’re also happy to see it go. Go ahead and venture out in the snow from time to time! Throw a snowball or make a snow angel. You have an inner snow bunny inside you, and it’s time to let that bunny play. |

Personalized Labels
Loveable Labels
In many parts of the country, the kids are back to school already. In Connecticut though, most schools don’t start back until after Labor Day.
Back-To-School brings back many sweet memories for me. I miss going to all the fall soccer games and dance lessons that always kept me so busy.
So many little ones will be starting pre-school for the first time – it’s certainly an exciting and busy time with all the preparation that went into getting the kids ready and packed up in the morning to go. Inevitably though, the kids didn’t always come home with what we sent them off with in the morning!
To help assure that the beautiful sweater that auntie gave as a birthday present, or the nice boots that grandmom and grandpa gave your sweetie comes home from school or daycare, it helps to label each item for protection and safe-keeping.
I’ve had the opportunity to review a Back to School Mega Pack from Loveable Labels.
Loveable Labels was started by a mom out of necessity, and is a Canadian label company that has over 400 independent agents, who are typically moms, across Canada and the USA.
When Laura’s first child entered daycare, she was told to label all his belongings. This meant labeling everything from his outdoor clothing, to his indoor shoes, lunches, sippy cups and backpack. Laura recognized a need in the market for personalized labels that were tough and durable and could stand the test of time and the everyday use that children put them through.
Durable and colorful labels stick with your kids and their stuff, you can label everything from water bottles, lunch containers, shoes to jackets and backpacks.
Kids just love to see their name in print – you can have the labels personalized with a name, initials, or anything you choose!
Plus, they’re dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer safe!
Loveable Labels has been voted “Best Kids Labels” by City Parents.
The Mega Pack included:
- 15 sticker labels
- 60 slimline labels
- 48 Press N’ Stick clothing dots
- 16 shoe labels
- 2 Mini-Metal tags
- 5 Book/Binder stickers
The Back to School Mega Pack retails for $44.95 CND/USD
Not just for back-to-school, Loveable Labels are also perfect for summer and overnight camps!
Interested in a earning extra income? Loveable Labels offers flexible work opportunities for moms

Knee Deep in Kids
Let The Good Times Roll
Moving right along in my Retro Series, the 90s and beyond were busy times for us here in Dysfunction Junction.
The economy (to us) was pretty good, and we were heavily involved in all the usual sorts of parenting activities involving the kiddos – in other words, we didn’t have a life.
To add to the adventure, the Hubster started his own business, and we celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary in 1999.
Here’s just a sampling
Swimming lessons
Dance lessons
Pre-School
First Day of School
Soccer, Softball Lacrosse, Cross-Country
Overnight camp
Family Vacations
Driving Lessons
Occasionally I found time to par-tay (just to keep my sanity) no, I don’t drink a lot, but it seems that whenever I’m not the one taking the pictures, someone else is capturing me at my “best” !
We’ve celebrated some milestones, had some fun, gained a little weight, pulled out our hair, and obviously dyed it several different colors over the years!
I’ve had a lot of fun this week showing my readers who’s behind the computer screen in this Retro Series , sharing tidbits of wisdom, or hot-flashing, ranting, raving at times!
If you want to know even more about me (OMG), keep checking my 101 Things About Me tab that I’ll keep adding to!

Cape Cod Rail Trail – New England – Wordless Wednesday

Cape Cod
Cape Cod Rail Trail
When the kids were little we would camp up in Eastham, Cape Cod. The Cape is one of my most favorite places in New England. Every time I go up there it reminds me of “Summer of ‘42″ when life was simple, and more laid back. At least that’s the mindset I’m in when I’m up there. But that’s the subject of a whole ‘nother post.
We camped in a private campground that backs right up to the Rail Trail. The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs from Wellfleet to Eastham (probably beyond.) The girls would roller-blade, and the Hubster and I would bike. The vistas and views were beyond gorgeous – salt marshes, ponds, cranberry bogs, wildlife and nature.

Hockey Moms ~ Are You Frozen ~ Stay Warm with a Cabin Cuddler ~
September 25, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)
Filed under Reviews & Buzz, family, kids, parenting
Now that schools are back in session, I’m a little wistful. Ever since my daughters were younger, I’ve always been a mom who attended sporting events. My girls did soccer, travel soccer, indoor soccer, basketball, softball, lacrosse and cross country over the years. They were active from grade school, all the way through becoming letter-winners in high school and college.
As a New England native, I can’t begin to tell you how many hours I’ve spent on athletic fields in all kinds of weather ~ rain, snow, freezing cold and days that sometimes were over 100 degrees. New England weather can be so unpredictable.
Awhile back I posted a product review on this terrific new product called the “Cabin Cuddler.” It’s so versitile, it can be used when traveling by air, train, car & more!
The Cabin Cuddler is also great if you’re a cubicle dweller, like I am. But I really wish that this had been around when I was a soccer/basketball/softball/cross-country/lacrosse mom! While I don’t have sons, I do have a new grandson, so maybe I’ll be a Hockey Grand-mom some day….maybe.
The kind folks at Cabbin Cuddler sent me this terrific travel blanket so I can have one of my very own! It even has a pocket for my feet!
Start your Holiday Shopping early ~ maybe some mom, dad, grandma or grandpa would like a Cabbin Cuddler to bring to the games with them ~ football season is in full swing!
Thanks so much~ See for yourself, try the Cabin Cuddler today!

Twins Compete in Sport Games and It’s a Win-Win Situation!
July 10, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

Charming Son-in-Law’s birthday is coming up next month. I know just the perfect gift to give him. What makes it even more eventful, is that he’s a twin! I call his brother my “Bonus Son-in-Law!”
It’s so fun to watch the two of them when they get together. Charming SIL is originally from Vermont. The two brothers share many of the same interests, although not all.
Both are very much in to sports, and root for the same baseball team. As far as football goes, they’re complete opposites.
When Bonus comes to visit, he always brings his PS2 down. It’s so much fun to watch them both when they get together. I can just imagine what the game competition was like between them when they were younger!

All You Need is Love ~ Love! England at it’s Best!
June 18, 2008 by Moomette's Magnificents (Admin)

As you can see, I’ve been Musing quite a bit about vacationing lately. Around this time last year, our family spent some delightful day-tripping time in Newport, Rhode Island, which is home to The National Lawn Tennis Hall of Fame and Tennis Museum. There’s a terrific little restaurant on the grounds, and it’s fun to walk around and check out the history of tennis ~ you might even catch some players out on the lawn and watch their game while you eat some great fresh seafood!
When I was 17, I spent several weeks in England. I didn’t get to see Wimbledon, which is the most prestigious championship tennis court in the world. I love how the Brits call it “Lawn Tennis,” as it’s played on grass courts. Did you know that women have been allowed to play since 1884? Can you imagine what they wore at that time, which was right during the Victorian Era? We’ve come a long way baby with those cute little outfits the gals wear now!
There’s still time to grab some Wimbledon tickets!
If I can’t make Wimbledon, maybe you can. Each year New Haven, Connecticut hosts one of the major tennis tournments in the United States. It’s usually a big-draw for tourism, and our state can really use all the tourists we can get! Unfortunately, it also almost always rains that week.
Keep your fingers crossed for clear skies!
