Here’s an easy and inexpensive way when planning a wedding to make your own DIY hang tags and save money. The party tags can also be used for Bridal Shower, Baby, Wedding, Anniversary or any type of party favor.
When my daughter got married to my charming son-in-law, a Vermont native, at an Inn overlooking Mt. Mansfield in Stowe, Vermont over a Columbus Day weekend she chose a country theme to reflect the splendor and colors of the fall foliage season New England is famous for. Each guest at the Inn received a small bottle of Vermont Pure Maple Syrup.
With the help of my crafty and talented sister-in-law, we made all the table decorations, placards and hang tags for the wedding favors so that we could cut down on certain wedding expenses. As the wedding planning was done one year in advance, many of the items were purchased the previous season on sale.
Party Favor Hang Tags
You will need a good quality supply of card stock in your choice of colors. A good hang card size is a half a business card. Using a computer print shop program, generate an inside greeting. You can also hand write your greeting in calligraphy on each favor for an elegant and personalized touch.
Things You’ll Need:
- Card Stock
- Small Hole Punch
- Decorations such as dried flowers, stickers, pictures
Cut the card stock down to the size of a business card for each favor.
You can do it yourself, or take it to an office supply store. Many companies such as Kinkos offer free areas and tools for cutting.
Punch a hole in the corner with a small hole punch that can be purchased at a craft supply store.
Cut ribbon 11 inches for each favor. You can use fun curling ribbon, for an easy fun festive look, or use double-sided satin ribbon for an elegant look, as we did.
Attach any decorations. Decorative stickers, such as pressed flower stickers are simple and easy. We used real dried press-on leaves, and craft decorations purchased online.
