Be sure to check out the Niantic Connecticut Beach and Boardwalk if you’re looking for some family fun ! Residents and tourists passing through the State will be able to catch some sun, sand, surf and even a view of the Amtrak Train !tic
Niantic Bay Beach Boardwalk
Completed in 2016, the Niantic Bay Beach Boardwalk offers view of Long Island Sound, the Millstone Power Plant and Amtrak Train.
Kid-friendly, baby stroller friendly and senior citizen friendly, the protected boardwalk is over one mile long, with ample benches to rest along the way. There is beach access for those wanting to gather some sand between their toes.
Plenty of ample parking is available. There’s a park overlooking Niantic Bay, famous for it’s small Niantic Bay Scallops.
Free to walk, but a small fee is charged those wanting to access the beach and swimming areas. You can watch the charter fishing boats go out, and play some beach volleyball !
The Niantic Bay Beach Boardwalk was originally started in 2011, but Superstorm Sandy destroyed a portion, and the boardwalk had to be rebuilt using Federal funds, East Lyme town funds and private donation sponsorships.
Add this hidden gem to your bucket list of family friendly fun things to do in Connecticut ! Make this a daytrip and bring the kids, mom, dad, grandparents and spend the day enjoying the town and it’s restaurants ! Our favorite is dining at Dad’s for fried clams !
