Random Tuesday Thoughts and More

I remember the Swine Flu scare epidemic clearly from 1976. Our town was dispensing the vaccine for free at our local high school. I was a newlywed (2-years) and my DH and I stood in line that took forever to get through. All the local townspeople and our friends were there. We got the vaccination. We were never so sick in our entire lives. I was out of work at least one week, maybe longer. Never again will I get the Swine Flu vaccine. Now you’re hearing all kinds of things about Guillain-Barre syndrome caused by it and more. I’ll NEVER get it if it’s offered and take my chances.

Nothing beats Blistex for dry or chapped lips if you live in a climate that has weather like New England. I used it all winter when the weather was freezing. Now it’s April and we’re having a tropical heat wave. The last 2 days have broken records going back to 1915. It’s been in the 90’s.

How do cats know to tell time? I don’t need an alarm clock with The Cat. He’s always outside my bedroom door whining in the morning, especially if I sleep in.

Speaking of pets, why does The Cat and The Granddog think that the other’s food is better than what I serve them? When The Granddog is over, he eats the cat food, and the cat eats the dog food.

It never fails, I always remember to look for my cell phone when I’ve locked the house, am in the car, which I just started and then have to turn the car off & go back into the house where I’ll find it on the battery charger, right where I left it.

  3. I just read about the 1976 swine flu scare yesterday…in the newspaper! ;)

My husband would never survive without his Chapstick! He says he needs to keep his lips soft to play the trombone. Keeps them kissable, too!

  4. Yuck a week sick. I want to be prepared, but I don’t want to go over board either. We will avoid that shot with a 10ft pole!

  7. LOL, I always realize that I am missing the cellphone when I am a mile from the house. OOPS hope no one needs to call me because I never go back!

  8. I had a friend who got Guillain-Barre Syndrome. She does NOT recommend it.

  9. LOL, so many of us are discussing the swine flu today.

  10. What a great blog! So glad I found you…well, so glad you found me….I guess none of that really matters, now does it?
Yeah, I always look for my cell phone when my foot is on the brake and I’ve put the car in reverse. That’s turned out poorly for me a couple of times!

  11. Hm, I don’t get a regular flu vaccine, I don’t see why this one should be any different. Especially after THAT post! ;)

  12. If I don’t keep my cell in my bra, I’ll have no idea what happened to it. Seriously, I’m a little weird.

  13. I don’t do vaccines, period. No exceptions!
