Sixth Sense

I was ‘visited’ last nite, again. Many of you know I’m a night owl, and do most of my ‘serious’ stuff in the wee hours of the morning.

In my first post, I spoke of how I believe I have a Sixth Sense. My family humors me. Several friends at the office understand. I don’t speak of it often to those I know personally.

On my first post, several kind folks commented that they understood what I was talking about.

Matt, from Meltwater. Torrents. Meanderings. Delta. posted here that he had visited Lady Rose and had a Tarot Card reading done.

With much trepidation, I also contacted Stir the Cauldron and Lady Rose was kind enough to prepare one for me. I tried to save the e-mail so I could reference it, but wouldn’t you know, somehow it went ‘poof’ and now I can’t refer to it. Coincidence?

Sitting at the computer, with the night air blowing in from the window next to me, for some strange reason, thoughts of my late Grandmother came into my mind. No reason, none at all, as I was probably doing some eBay listings.

The hair on my arms stood up straight, and I had goosebumps all over my arms. Why, I don’t know, but I moved the mouse down to the right bottom corner to look at the date. It was after midnight, so it was July 28th. My Grandmother’s Birthday. She would have turned 107.

My Grandmother’s been gone for almost 6 years, in August. She lived to be 101. Nana had always been there for me ~ as long as I can remember. She outlived many, many members of my family, what there is of it on my side.

I’m still perplexed, and somewhat bothered by this visit. Some ‘feelings,’ ‘thoughts’ or whatever you want to call them haunt me more than others.

But I was visited. She was there. Happy Birthday, Nana.

  1. Maybe she just wanted you to remember her on the day she was born instead of the day she died. Living is much more memorable.

  2. She was there, watching over you. I get this “feeling” sometimes, or something moves and gets my attention, and I’ve just recently decided it’s my dad (who passed away unexpectedly in 2004). I wish he’d ‘visit’ more often.

I added you as a friend on mom bloggers, and I’m happy to have found your blogs.

  3. that is beautiful cindi. im so glad she was there with you. dont think any different, or let anyone tell you otherwise :)

they say if you think of someone deceased hard enough they can appear. Thats really nice for you x

    Hi Cindi,
I can totally relate to your sixth sense. It may just be a coincidence, but Twitter emailed me today that you were following me and so I decided to check out your blog. For the last several days I’ve been reading a couple books by Doreen Virtue about experiences just like the one you’re talking about and how these events are linked to angels.

Before this week, I hadn’t read very much about intuition, angels, etc., and I am usually drawn to more business oriented books. For some reason though, her books caught my eye in the book store and then I came across your blog post about the exact same thing a few days later.

Anyway, I couldn’t ignore this “feeling” that I should let you know about her books.

By the way, this is my first comment ever on any blog :)

  5. Not only can the loved ones who now dwell in the spirit world – or “the other side” – as John Edward calls it, visit us; we can also communicate with them.
Each and every one of us is born with this gift, but we tend to lose it as we grow older and are taught more “adult” things, such as that our “imaginary friends” do not really exist.
I, for one, always welcome these visits and, in a way, look forward to seeing them all again someday.
They can make themselves known by “a feeling” – such as you had – by a smell, even by using electronic devices. They won’t “phone home”..but can make things go on and off seemingly by themselves.
Embrace these visits and welcome them into your presence.

  6. Oh, I totally believe in visits like this. I hope you weren’t too upset – it seems she wanted to say hello to you. If this doesn’t sound too odd, my dog was “with” me for years after he died. I know because at odd times, I felt him leaning against my leg like he used to do when I was sitting down. I would get this sensation of him being there. I knew he was. It was comforting because he was the best dog I ever had.

Thanks for sharing your story, Cindi. And thanks for alerting me to your blog on my blog post. Nice to make your acquaintance!

  7. Aww! Your sweet Nana was there with you! Thank you for sharing that!
