Thanksgiving Craft Ideas for Kids | Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts

Are you searching some fun and creative ways to keep your kids entertained during the Thanksgiving holiday? Here are some fun and simple Thanksgiving craft ideas for kids.

Recently I had my grandkids over and was babysitting for a long weekend and thought it would be fun if we made some Thanksgiving crafts.  I was short on time, so I went to our local Michaels Crafts store and found these cute plate turkey craft kits.

Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts

My granddaughter, ‘Lil Moomette who’s 6 was able to assemble hers alone, while Slugger, age 4 managed to do a good job, even though he’s a little short on patience and attention.  Each was proud though of the finished craft to take home to their Mom and Dad!

Childrens Thanksgiving Crafts

Turkey Wreath – Buy a straw wreath and assorted Thanksgiving decorations, let your kids glue on the decorations to make a holiday wreath to hang on your front door.

Turkey Cups – With the Thanksgiving family dinner coming up soon, you’ll in all likelihood have a house full of kids, buy small kid-sized plastic cups and craft markers. Give each kid a cup and let them write their name on it and decorate it.

Turkey Placemats – Give your kids colored construction paper and let them make turkeys. After they’re done, mount each turkey on a different sheet of construction paper, then laminate it. Now they’ll have their own special turkey placemat.

Pine Cone Turkey – Gather pine cones, then cut out colorful turkey feathers from different colors of construction paper or use pipe cleaners. Use red felt to cut out the turkey’s comb. Glue the Thanksgiving turkey together, tucking the pipe cleaner or construction paper feathers in-between the pine comb leaves.

My own girls made pine cone turkeys when they were little and in daycare! I still like to display these Thanksgiving crafts after all these years – such memories!

Thanksgiving Flower Pots – Buy the littlest red clay pots you can find at your local garden store (these are super cheap), a bag of potting soil, and packages of various flowers, vegetables, or herb seeds. Let the kids or grandchildren write the name of the seed on the outside of the pot with a felt-tipped pen. Next, have them pour potting soil into each pot and plant the seeds.

When the seeds begin sprouting in a few weeks, let the kids take their Thanksgiving pots to a local assisted living facility or nursing home and donate them as Thanksgiving gifts to the residents or patients.

I hope you’ll enjoy some quality time with the kids making these simple Thanksgiving craft ideas!
