To Flubber or Not to Flubber ~ Do Baby Boomers Belong in Convertible Sport Cars?

Share

Here’s a pic of me and my SIL over Labor Day awhile back. Don’t we look like way-cool Boomers? Almost like we’ve had years of practice being Beauty Queens riding in parades, little wave & all, don’t ya think?

Driving home from the office and aware of the gas crunch and those horrific prices going up every day, got me to thinking.

Should I roll the windows down in the car and conserve gas by not using the air conditioning? Will that get me more miles per gallon?

The temps were in the 80’s today here in New England. The last few days they’ve been in the high 90’s.

Maybe I need a convertible ~ then I wouldn’t need the air conditioning. In my mind’s eye, I’m still the carefree, wanna-have-fun gal of my younger days.

But, reality check ~ when touring colleges for oldest DD several years back, the family was in Ithica, NY visiting Cornell. My brother, who lives in Rochester, met us there and surprised us by driving an antique, 1969 Chevy Malibu yellow convertible. While touring the area, I was sitting in the back seat with my DD and I thought I was so….way-cool. Until she brought me back down to earth and said “Mom, your face is flubbering.”

Talk about doing a fast crash and burn. Only in my eyes does my face not flubber. Does anyone else flubber while riding in a convertible?
